Was it Blackpool who decided it was a good idea to wear all black for an August match at LR circa 2005 and almost literally wilted to a 5-0 defeat in sauna-like conditions?
Either them or some other ‘B’ team we’ve since played 100 times.

Yep, first day of the 2003/04 promotion season, chose to wear all black on the hottest day of the year. Gaz Ainsworth got a brace.
I refereed him about 15 years ago at Hanworth Villa,he was playing for Hungerford Vets, Jimmy Quinn also played, Macca usually played but was away that week.

Went up Friday/Saturday with a group of mates but another group had my ticket, met them on the Sunday outside of the ground but they had sold my ticket as they thought I wasn’t coming so had to listen to the game in the car in Blackpool, all before mobile phones, lol.
The night before, I was about to get hold of the landlady’s daughter from the B&B we where staying in but my mates came back and caught us going up the stairs, not a great weekend in someways but had a blast.
I think this was the first time we saw Trevor Sinclair?

I remember being very excited when we signed Mickey Walsh. Probably because of that goal of the season he got for Blackpool in the mid-70s. The one Rs memory I have of him is scoring a goal at home in either a 2-2 draw or 2-1 home win. No idea who it was against but I'm sure it was on Grand National Day. My memory now functions at the level of a second-rate seaside psychic.
