Kitchen sink being thrown at it? Had a good rehearsal for this on Saturday at least.

Shame he couldn't finish right at the end of injury time.

Match thread: Middlesbrough on 21:50 - Aug 28 with 3699 views | 442Dale | For the last twenty minutes or so we witnessed some real hope for the future. A team on the front foot, getting it wide, putting in crosses and actually creating panic amongst the opposition defence. We deserved a draw and it’s no coincidence that Dooley’s introduction instilled an extra belief amongst other players who realised that they too might benefit really forcing the issue in the final third. Camps has looked a shadow of himself, but he was visibly lifted by the likes of Cannon who were determined to drive forward. Dooley was the exclamation point on that attitude and it was the most enjoyable 20 minutes of football since the Spurs game. That’s a Rochdale team. We don’t ask for much, I’d take that every single week.

Match thread: Middlesbrough on 22:16 - Aug 28 with 3373 views | DareToCalvin | Brilliant performance tonight and very unlucky to go out, especially after the last half hour. Much like the dale of 18 months ago; having possession but taking more risks going forward and trying to create things. Cannon MOTM, but massive shout out to Dooley who could be a great player, made things happen and drove at their defence. Very encouraged by this performance. Randall also looks a much better attacking full back to play in a 5 although Raff did very well when he came on. Bring on Bury, Coventry and beyond.
Match thread: Middlesbrough on 22:24 - Aug 28 with 3289 views | meeee | I’m fully aboard the Dooley hype train. Every attack we had in the last 20 minutes came through him, he’s composed on the ball, picked out a few excellent passes in and around the box and actually looks to make things happen. Really unlucky to not get a draw but oh well, i’m a bit less worried then I was at the full time wistle at Walsall on Saturday

So on the bench or left back on Saturday then :-)
Match thread: Middlesbrough on 22:59 - Aug 28 with 3076 views | 442Dale | Worth noting that we saw the unnecessary use of the away shirt (with home shorts to avoid a clash) and with our two best performances being in white, we can expect it to appear randomly from now until May.

Match thread: Middlesbrough on 23:22 - Aug 28 with 2986 views | daz | Wasn't at the game tonight but encouraged by what I've heard. Just watched the goals back and a couple of things annoyed me about their second goal. Firstly the Middlesbrough sub in the background is warming up in a red top, at first glance I thought it was a player waiting to come back on and also our player (Randall I think) goes down injured and the referee allows game to continue. The referee on Saturday stopped the game on around 10 occasions for a Walsall player hitting the deck! Might not have made a difference but glaring inconsistency.
Match thread: Middlesbrough on 23:49 - Aug 28 with 2918 views | macro | I wouldn't say brilliant performance. First half pedestrian, too slow, too many errors. Calvin and Inman wasteful. Second half much better but Boro had taken off 2 experienced players and replaced them with kids. Dooley definitely made an impact, his pace along with rafferty, cannon and gillam gave more bite and at least we gave it a good go, with a bit of luck or composure it'd have been penalties.
Match thread: Middlesbrough on 00:00 - Aug 29 with 2888 views | Daley_Lama | Dooley: Lazy so and so who won’t track back, won’t play the ball sideways, won’t stay in one position and even tried to shoot from outside the box. Thought Pullis had gone a bit early when he put two toddlers on their right at half time, as Dave and Cannon attacked down our left time and again. Overall Boro stronger than us, hit the post twice, missed some sitters etc. Thought the above 3 mentioned had good games and Gillam had a solid run out even if he did miss the chance right at the end.

I tend to agree. For those old enough to remember Steve Whitehall's debut, this was similar. We should have drawn the game. We played really well in the last 20 mins carving them open at will at times. Cannon made the difference as he always plays on the front foot. I actually think he's the best player at the club. Interestingly, every goal kick was launched, and not before time! And Hendo is so more effective when he's the furthest man up the pitch. And with Calvin, who was causing chaos and havoc in Boro's defence, we look like we have teeth all of a sudden. I know Wilbraham is a "stella" signing, but I still prefer Calvin.

It must gall you somewhat that I base my football opinions on what you and others report on the game Its what your good at. I'm always interested in your match reports. [Post edited 29 Aug 2018 1:29]

Match thread: Middlesbrough on 10:26 - Aug 29 with 2097 views | ChaffRAFC | Thought it was a below average performance apart from the last 15 minutes or so. Randall was poor. Got skinned constantly down that right hand side and just didn't react for the goal. Think he even lost the ball while getting injured in the lead up to their second. Delaney then made a really poor effort at out jumping Hugill. All first half we saw Inman trying to link the play but either the final ball was off or we conceded possession. We didn't trouble their defence or keeper enough in the first half. Cannon was our man of the match by a distance I thought. Then came Stephen Dooley. An impressive debut it has to be said. Linked up really well with the forwards, good delivery into the box from set pieces and we looked miles more threatening with him in the side and we ended up being very unfortunate to not take it to penalties. Gillam missed a sitter at the end with pretty much the last kick and Cannon, Dooley, Andrew and Ntlhe all had chances that were either saved or last ditch blocked. Take that into Saturday now please.

Is it harsh on Gillam to say he really should be scoring chances like that - or at least hitting the target? I know it's difficult because he doesn't seem to get a run of games to prove himself - but then is he not getting a run of games because of finishing like that? He had a great chance v Plymouth last season and also put it over - is he trying too hard or is he just a bit short of being a professional footballer? Looking at the type of player he seems to be - he is going to be judged on his finishing because he's not like a Calvin or Wilbraham who offer more height and strength when they are not scoring.

How many games did it take Murray or Holt to start scoring? the only way to find out if Gilliam will score is to give him a run of games,
