It was pretty easy actually.
The worlds gone to friggin serious.
They were dull to do it considering the bad press thats given on this blacking up when it comes to fancy dress but it shouldn't be like that.

Now, i am not going to give my thoughts on what i think of you because i am going to rise above your pathetic comment. What i would advise you to do is carrying on posting "where can i park i the uplands" posts.
Myself, i would check online for car parking in the said area, proceed to drive there and keep my eye out for a place i could park for free with the car park as my destination if that fails. But there again, i am not the sharpest!!!

I doubt there's a person in the country who doesn't realise that in 2017 blacking up in this way is at the very least going to be a bit controversial and may attract some publicity. I'm only speculating of course but I'd be amazed if the lads involved didn't discuss that beforehand and the thought that they may get on the news or in the papers paid a large part in them deciding to go ahead with it. It's all part of the "ooh look how un-PC I am" counterculture that's growing among those who are afraid to admit their true feelings on certain issues and prefer to hide behind a mantra of "I defend my right to offend". I don't get it why someone would deliberately set out to try and offend personally but we're all different.
I think the problem comes when you attribute a term to it.
I think it would have looked ridiculous if they went as the characters from Cool Runnings and did nothing about their caucasian appearances. I very much doubt it was their intention to offend, as I cannot see what is offensive.
''blacking up'' was the term attributed to the group that did it and then acted in such a way to be negatively stereotypical - and thus racist and offensive.
The alternative of course is to choose caucasian characters - in which of course you are then creating a divide based on race.
(Edit - I have just read further and discovered the twist of this song? that may well change things. But on face value, I dont see the issue).

I would consider myself very non racist, I despise racism. I'm very Internationalist in my outlook and have had the pleasure of meeting many different people from all sorts of cultures some of my close family are from an ethnic minority.
If you cannot see the difference in boundaries between good fun between different people and having a joke then you really are a not a Worldly person. You are somebody who would struggle to get on with people from other cultures because you'd be so afraid of offending.
If you can't find humour in likes of Father Ted, then there's no hope for you seriously. What breaks down boundaries is humour and the ability to extract the urine out of oneself.
The people who are offended constantly over nothing always tend to come from very comfortable middle class backgrounds with next to no mixing with people of a different background. They are the sort of people who subconsciously would run a mile if a group of people of colour walked in.
Anybody who has lived a little knows where the line is.

I just don't understand why dressing up as someone means you are making fun of them? If they went as Beckham, Scholes and Ronaldo (white) would people think they were taking the p*ss out of them? I wouldn't imagine so.
