No Wyke, Vincelot, Marshall or Meredith for them.

disappointing being unable to win either of the last two games when it really mattered. Both millwall and southend came up with the goods when it mattered.

Hope we can find the missing ingredient for next season.

Finished a very creditable ninth. I think we would`ve all taken that in August especially after the horror start and the awful run in the new year. Still,I think we could have and should have made the play offs at least,so to me another season of wandering what might have been?

I said this morning I was looking for a performance to match the occasion, and we got that. It was, in fact, a tremendously entertaining game with free-flowing football. Dale gave their all, and a draw was a fair result. You can see why Bradford are in the playoffs and I wish them luck

I'm disappointed but far from being gutted I'm proud of what we've achieved again this season. The reasons why we finished 9th and not higher have been widely discussed during the course of the season and it hardly needs re-hashing again now - the deficiencies which have made the difference are there to see, including today

NML was of course, outstanding. Allen was also superb, Bunney, Rafferty, Camps, Andrew and McGahey again deserve plaudits. Matty Lund didn't have a great game but again illustrated why he's been important for us when fit by getting on the end of several chances, making one count after another coruscating run from NML

So that's that for 2016/17. A well-deserved rest for those who're staying with us, a lot of work for Hilly during the summer after he's had a good breather, and then bring on 2017/18!

Being purely objective, there's no way we should have missed out on the play-offs from the position we were in at Christmas.

But, to be regularly fearing no-one in League One is a massive achievement and we have to take the rough with the smooth.

Hopefully, we will use the Hogan money to strengthen for next season and take the next step.

Firstly, what a fantastic match! Great entertainment. I hope a lot of the new faces I saw today are encouraged for next season. Really healthy attendance. We had 25 shots in that match. Twenty five. Their keeper was impressive but some were just bad luck.

I feared the worst when Henderson was injured. Substituting him with McDermott is like swapping a Ferrari for a tricycle. A tricycle with sparkles and a fancy flag, but a tricycle nonetheless. To be fair though McDermott didn't do too badly today but I'd still be saying thank you and goodbye over the next few weeks. McGahey is going to be some defender. Really impressed by his progress. Camps gets better and better too. I'm already SO excited for next season as some of these players will only get better.

It's always hard to try and guess the reactions of the players when they're doing their lap of honour, but Lund seemed to be giving as warm and grateful an applause as he could. If you are to leave, Matty, farewell, good luck, and thank you for your excellent service to RAFC over the past few years. The same to Raff and NML too.

There was such a nice atmosphere walking away from that match. Bradford fans complimenting Dale on their performance, Dale fans wishing Bradford good luck. It was nice to see. Good luck Bradford, probably the second best team we've played this season in my opinion, after Sheffield United.

Finally, WHAT A SEASON! I thought a few weeks ago that when we got to this point I'd be writing about a season of frustration and missed opportunities. In many respects it has been that - the winless run, the excessive amount of late goals conceded, the poor defence, the fullback situation, the goalkeeper situation, they've all been discussed ad infinitum - but in actuality I'm sat here beaming because this club has just been absolutely brilliant yet again. Miracles will be made while Hill is at Spotland, and this season has been no exception.

Can't believe anyone could watch that game and say that we didn't deserve the 3 points. I thought we out matched them in absolutely every department and their keeper made numerous saves to keep me in it. Can't remember Logan making any real meaningful stops.

Good season and a credible finishing position but filled with thoughts of what could and should have been. It's totally inexcusable that we didn't make the play-offs with the position we were in.

25 Dale attempts at goal. 9 on target. We certainly could easily have won it. Cast iron penalty on Mendez Laing also in the 1st half. Ah well.

No, this is the Oldham Division

And, unfortunately, they had their say last week.

Aye, your are correct. I was doffing my cap in the direction of Keith Hill, who has done what he said he would do. Establish us as a secure third tier club.

Not sure about cast iron, there seemed to be a couple of defenders challenging him at the same time which you'd expect to be happening so close to the net, without seeing a replay I wasn't convinced at the time though

It looked 100% to me , one of the 2 (could have been McArdle) grabbed Mendez Laing around the neck.

That now seems to be the norm for every single corner too, defenders are "allowed" to wrestle opposition players now it seems in the box....

From the Bradford forum:

Quite rightly they picked out Mendez-Laing and Allen and stand out players for us.

Enjoyed today. Very energetic and positive first-half with lots of good displays. Second half was more a story of mashing together some of the kids while others tried to avoid picking up injuries before the play offs. Rochdale were a very tidy side and created a fair few chances, but only had one real outlet in the magnificent Mendez-Laing. My report:

Sattelmeier - 8. Seriously good performance from the German, although our fans need to learn to pronounce his surname. Showed himself to be more than a league one blocker with a couple of acrobatic saves and brave rushing out stops. Impressive, but can't kick to save his life.

Toner - 5. Pretty out of touch. Laboured off the ball and lacks grace on it. No-where near fit or quick enough to bomb up and down the line as a full-back, and can't cross. Too small to be a centre-half. Definitely doesn't have an athlete's build, but he digs in and is thoroughly determined.

Killgallon - 5. Showed some signs of quality with a couple of smart tackles in the box, but overall, pretty poor. Looked unsteady on his feet and made quite a few loose passes, rash with his clearances too. Positioning was all over the place. McDermott walked through our left side a number of times.

McArdle - 7. Really dominant at the back. Passing was good too. Gave Andrew slightly too much space for my liking at times, though. Made some exceptional blocks. Looking good for play-offs.

Darby - 6. Given a torrid time but the electric Mendez-Laing, who absolutely left him for dead with the goal. He turned him in a flash, it was mesmeric. That said, he battled hard and only allowed the form player of league one a single opening. A Darby-like performance and possibly his last for the club.

Devine - 5. Off the pace for league one. A number of posters on here have said he is 'more than ready for league one' but today showed he is not quite up to the standard yet. His decision making, physicality and passing has much room for improvement. Went through good periods of the game with some nice runs, but often became a passenger. Needs a loan next season - a strong conference side.

Dieng - 7. Good performance. Didn't exhibit his silky passing range so much this time, but definitely showed his defensive abilities. Broke up play well, especially in the first half and duly started a number of threatening attacks. Strong in the air too - a turnaround from his shambles at Sheff Utd.

Gilliead - 7. A direct, strong and willing runner. Gave Bunney a number of problems at left back. Got the ball across regularly too. Delighted to have him back for play-offs. Unlucky to hit the bar, should have probably scored.

Clarke - 8. Honestly, not a fan of Clarke's at all but today was one of his best games in ages. His hard work was crucial to the goal and he provided the link-up play to compliment Dieng's dominant midfield performance in the first half. Again, didn't threaten the goal enough.

Hiwula - 6. Did pretty little, shunted out on the left wing. That said, his first touch was better than usual and he made a couple of nice contributions to neat attacks. A solid performance, but didn't penetrate at all.

Jones - 7. Really like this kid, and I think he's been putting on muscle in his upper body. He was lean and wiry when he arrived, but he now has the physique to hold play up and operate with his back to goal. Great, calm finish. A natural sharpshooter. Always looked threatening to Rochdale's defence when he got the ball.

SUBS

Hudson - Didn't really do much. Looked too weak for this level still. Nice first touch and he can definitely take a corner.
Penney - The pick of the young subs on first look. Really solid basics - technique, touch, short passes etc. Occasionally lost his composure and played an erratic pass.
Pybus - Again, looked to have good basics but way too raw to make a meaningful contribution.

Worth saying - was seriously impressed by Mendez-Laing. Not only quick and strong when running, but also had superb delivery. Also really like Jamie Allen. I think he would be a great replacement for Cullen - decent passing range, very tenacious and links up defence with midfield well.
