why did we let so many 1st teamers leave 19:50 - Aug 9 with 3828 views | Borojack | After a shaky start under Monk we finished the season.well. Winning 3 out of the last 4 games and taking 18 points from 14 games in total. Also put in 2 very good performances against Napoli. So why get shot of so many a big gamble in.my opinion hope it works out.

I still think he is a big loss, and if I was calling the shots I'd still try to pull the plug on that deal and get him back here. [Post edited 10 Aug 2014 0:24]

Agreed - we all know football is big business at the end of the day but our PR / Communications call it what you will, is bloody hopeless at times. Now we've got to the Prem let's not try to copy the big boys - let's do things a bit differently. St Pauli is a great example in Germany for how to build an image and be in tune with the fans. Trivial maybe but GM in a suit - why ?

why did we let so many 1st teamers leave on 21:24 - Aug 9 by JackFish | I don't really think we've lost anyone that important, and nor do I think that the number of changes was anything to do with the performance today. Vorm - widely slated on here last season and most wanted an improvement. Michu - barely played all season and clearly didn't want to be here. Gylfi is a much better option than the Michu we had last season. Chico - I don't think we're getting rid, and it looked like he wanted to stay but can't turn down the megabucks from Qatar. Fair enough as long as we get a decent replacement in and don't end up with just Amat or Bartley as first choice. Pablo - looked decent under Monk in fairness and I'm a bit disappointed that he's not staying, but he's injury prone and inconsistent and only had a year left on his contract. JDG - Looked like we're sticking with Ki over him, not my preference really and if we could ship Ki off to Villa and use that money to bring JDG back I'd be all for it. Pozuelo - Meh. Canas - Looks like he was one of the main troublemakers. Thought he started promisingly but went downhill as the season progressed. No great loss but does need to be replaced. |
I disagree... Vorm - is still better than Tremmel Michu - I would rather have a healthy Michu coming off the bench than Emnes, Ki or Fulton Chico - better than Bartley Pablo - can play on either wing or behind the striker... outside of Emnes who can you says that about. JDG - is a better player than Shelvey IMO... but i have a feeling he doesn't want to come back since everyone is being shipped off. Poz - frozen out.. Emnes can do everything he can do. Canas - we could have used a proper DM today... As it stands, this team still need a CB, LB and DM. Also IMO another Winger that can play either flank should be in the cards just to bring balance . I don't see them buying another RB considering their are 4 already in the squad. [Post edited 10 Aug 2014 5:27]

This has been pretty clear for a long time, some people are still living in a dream world. "We only want players who want to play for Swansea City" Players will play for whoever is paying them the most.

Agree. Especially at Premier league level. Most of our players would be happy to fook off as soon as more money is offered, that includes the likes of Britton, monk and Tate . What i will say is that while we may give stick to people like Pablo and Chico they always put in 100% on the field, and thats where it matters, i would say the same about Canas too, he may well be a massive coont off the field but on it i always saw him put a shift in. Dealing with Ego is a main part of the job these days, monk needs to grasp that not all players will share his enthusiasm for the Swans but will do a professional job while on the field .

Chico: I think I am due a pay rise The Board: No way you are earning enough. Chico: I can go to Quatar and have double the wages. The Board: Eff off then. You were one of Laudrup's cronies anyway. Probably pracied down a bit :-)

attitude . I never saw either of them fold or give up when Laudrup left and in fact i thought they gave 100% to monk when he took over, it could be argued that both probably played their best football under Gary .

And thats why Monk and Tate are club legends . Even Leon left for a couple of grand a week on offer at a non footballing team like Sheff utd!

Chico had 2 years left on his contract so could have just said no your staying. Same with Pablo only a year left though should pull the plug on that one we used to drive a hard bargain now seem to give players away for nothing.

At least "you can go in January, Chico - we're a bit light in defence at the moment". Hardly rocket science.
