The fact is of course that the English cricket team is just like the football team, simply not good enough at international level. When the bowlers do OK it's only when conditions absolutely suit them, and even then they usually bowl far too short for a session or two and inevitably let the opposition off the hook, allowing the tail enders to score plenty. For far too long now we've been unable to bowl teams out. A "world class" bowler is someone who will find a way to get wickets even on a pitch that doesn't suit them, working with a decent captain. We don't have any I'm afraid, and we have a captain who doesn't have a clue and everybody (including the opposition) knows it. As for the batsmen they simply can't play a long innings or under pressure, which they are usually under due to the inadequate bowling performances. |  | | |
