The official Garry's got the job debate thread on 14:20 - May 7 by JACKARSE | Current coach Josep (Pep) Clotet has been named assistant |
This guy Clotet has got a terrible record in management multiple relegations and sackings at minor clubs. Support Garry, underwhelmed with Clotet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josep_Clotet_Ruiz [Post edited 7 May 2014 15:30]

The official Garry's got the job debate thread on 15:47 - May 7 with 1703 views | Davillin | I honestly did not have an opinion on this choice before it was made, but now it's done, I want Monk to succeed magnificently. With the exception of Laudrup [and possibly, just possibly, Sousa, depending on who you trust], the Board has made appointments of less than "experienced" managers and all have succeeded. There is only one thing I'd change about Monk's style. He must stop trying to be a stand-up comic during press conferences. [You know the ones that he always immediately follows with "No," and then contradicts them. Players wingeing, chips at halftime, for example.] The media always pick out those pieces of silliness and blow them out of proportion -- without the "no" or the explanation -- to make him look bad in print.

The official Garry's got the job debate thread on 15:49 - May 7 with 1686 views | borinifanclub | Decision made.. We have to live with it, it does not matter whether it is right or wrong what does matter is that Garry gets the chance to do the job his way. Let's Gert behind him and support him and the team as we did with all our previous managers.......he will sink or swim and we will moan and groan or cheer him to the rafters. Coys

The official Garry's got the job debate thread on 16:47 - May 7 with 1362 views | libertine | contracts don't mean anything these days how long was alan pardew given 8 years wasn't it what about moyse? does seem strange though but with the get out clauses that get written in well we'll see. probably they've given him until xmas. Its their money they are gambling with aswell so i imagine they won't make daft decisions. I hope his missus shuts up and stops slagging of my town, you can only do that if your born here. I hope he get his opportunity to put his stamp on things its easy to blame someone for a team that they didn't choose. I have a positive feeling, who the hell am i trying to convince
The official Garry's got the job debate thread on 16:50 - May 7 with 1353 views | snork44 | Good luck Garry ! Now he is the choice let's all get behind the guy. The last time we didn't get a 'Star' name as a manager we got promoted, so let's back Monk 100%.

The official Garry's got the job debate thread on 16:57 - May 7 with 1311 views | pierre91 | ...Clotet holds the UEFA pro license and as the Assistant Manager that is sufficient as GM is enrolled and working toward the same qualification. As for all the negative naysayers and doom predictors I say this. Our Board, and Chairman (NOT DoF, that's just social media bollocks) have a track record over the past 10yrs of getting their Managerial choices right. Don't you believe they deserve some trust? We've gone four seasons the PL,the so-called "hardest League in the world." We've won our first ever major trophy. All you keyboard critics (I need not list them) really need to grow up - your knowledge is miniscule and your opinions are preposterous. ( I should, as an IRONIC touch-look it up) insert here that it's "just my opinion" which it is - after all, what does my opinion matter more than yours? Put it like this, people who support our Club - that's all of us- will judge the outcome on things like continued progress. I like to think that most readers and posters on this GB think much the same. As for all you Grima (WormTongue) types who bleat on about the "cheap option" and other irrelevancies, you can can kiss my one, true, ring.(See what I did there?) No? Ah well. Onwards Swansea City, let's look forward to yet another riveting, exciting season. STID.

The official Garry's got the job debate thread on 17:08 - May 7 with 1258 views | Tom1912 | Are the club aware that Monk doesn't have his badges and as such won't be able to manage the club? Perhaps TomDickHarry should give Huw a call and explain?
The official Garry's got the job debate thread on 17:09 - May 7 with 1257 views | ymaohyd | A great thread with lots of opinions given with a bit of common sense. Those who disagree with the appointment have done so without the vitriol that many on here direct at the club or individuals (including me, at times I get so piss8d off with the wum's on here). Anyway, we can all have our opinions, football is all about results, in about 6 months we'll have a fair idea on the success or not of the appointment. As for the here and now, I think the Swans have appointed a man who will give his all for the club. I know many will say, well so he should, but if you look at ML, last summer he was away for an awful long time. I got involved in a debate on this forum about that when we were allegedly chasing Redmond who signed for Norwich. If that situation arises this year, we'll have a manager in place who will give that extra 5% as he did as a player to try and attract players. For a team like the Swans I believe that is hugely important. Maybe in the modern footballing world, it's all about agents, Premier League status and MONEY! I still believe in old fashioned values though of a manager going that extra mile to attract a player to a club. It is clear from the outcome of the appointments of Sousa and Laudrup that the appointments didn't work on a personal level. Laudrup's sides at times produced brilliant football, he brought in players like Bony and Michu, players who will be regarded as great Swans players on ability. Of course you can't forget the League Cup. I know several people who work in the commercial department and the Swans office who have been there years. The Swans board are loyal to their own. They run the club where they expect complete loyalty and work ethic from the manager down. When that isn't shown then the wheels start to fall off and personality clashes become more evident. In Garry Monk they have (as with Rodgers, Martinez and Jackett) a man who will give his absolute all. That may not be good enough, but it's a great start.

The official Garry's got the job debate thread on 17:22 - May 7 with 1184 views | DwightYorkeSuperstar | I'm conflicted. On the one hand I'm looking forward to being proven right when he is sacked / resigns / leaves with mutual consent next season, on the other hand he is going to leave us in a precarious position when he leaves and I very much would like to stay in this league. Hmm.
