Leeds appeared to start the match 4-5-1 PAULAT-BRIGG BYRAM QUALTER KILLOCK L.TURNER POLEON BOOKER N.TURNER McCANN TAYLOR LENIGHAN
1-14 min scrappy game 15 Qualter made a last ditch sliding tackle in the box to conceed a corner 17 Killock attacked the ball well to head clear 18 Crewe take the lead 1-0 after Leeds failed to read a Crewe corner. Crewe hit the D area on the edge of the box and Leeds failed to pick up a Crewe player running on to the ball, the resulting shot smashed into the net. 19 Nathan Turner left foot shot, ball over the bar 20 Leeds go 4-4-2 formation with Poleon and Lenighan up front 23 Paulat-Brigg gets his finger tips to a shot, Lewis Turner clears the loose ball 25 Paulat-Brigg comes out quickly to smother the ball at the edge of the area, ball cleared 27 Poleon square ball to Nathan Turner, Turner's shot narrowly wide 30 Booker spots the Crewe keeper off his line and tries a speculative left foot curling shot from the right wing, shot goes wide 39 Paulat-Brigg gets his legs to a shot, ball cleared 40 Booker left foot shot, inches wide 41 Good move started by McCann,to Lenighan who flicked the ball into the path of Poleon, shot well saved by Crewe keeper who reacted quickly and got down well to save.
46 Leeds make an "interesting" substitution at half time, taking off both forwards. 16 Payne and 1? Clamp replace 9 Lenighan and 10 Poleon 47 Clamp who had only been on the pitch for a minute as sub falls awkwardly and breaks his arm (to be confirmed) Clamp strtchered off in some considerable pain 50 14 Bartle replaces Clamp 60 Taylor heads over the bar 62 Booker 30 yard shot, saved 74 Booker shot, wide 90+1 Crewe go 2-0 up after Leeds fail to deal with a final Crewe attack, ball hooked back accross the box for a Crewe forward to stoop and head the ball in.
Leeds had several 1st year scholars playing in a youngish team, with the likes of 2nd years Birbeck out, Baxendale thigh and Cairns hip all on the sidelines.
Leeds perhaps need a steady and reliable 4-4-2 formation to ease some of the younger players into u18 football.
Changing formations from match to match early in the season for the u18's doesn't appear to be working
