Tate Vows No Havant Repeat Sunday, 11th Jan 2009 15:22 Alan Tate has said that he will not be drawn into a red card battle at Histon on Tuesday night The Swansea City vice captain was red-carded in the brawl at the Liberty Stadium last season - a brawl that happened after Havant defender Brett Poate hacked down Andrea Orlandi with the Swans a goal to the good. A late leveller from Baptiste took the Swans to a replay and the rest - as they say - is history as the Swans crashed out in one of last season's cup shocks. And as Tate prepares with his team-mates to travel to the Conference side - already victorious over Swindon and Leeds this season - he says that he has learned to calm down since being shown the red card in that first game at the Liberty. Speaking to News of the World, Tate said "I've learned from whatr happened against Havant last season and it won't happen again. "It will be a physical battle and we've got to keep our heads. "I won't let anything the Histon players do get under my skin. Looking back at the Havant game, I thought the tackle on Andrea was a horrible one. That's why I reacted the way I did. But I shouldn't have done it. "I shouldn't have raised my arm and trued to grab the player's head. "If something like that happens again I will stay away from it. I know what to expect from Histon - But I'll keep my cool. "After the Havant game there were a couple of occasions where I could have got involved in something but I stayed away which shows I have learned my lesson. "I can't lose the fiery streak in my game now and I'm sure the gaffer doesn't want me to lose it either. "But at the same time I can't afford to get red cards because it means a three game suspension. I was banned for the replay and I was gutted to miss that game. I went back home to Sunderland for the weekend because I wasn't involved. "I listened to it on the radio driving back to Swansea and it wasn't nice to hear us lose, especially as the winners played Liverpool."
