Tadanari Lee looks set to rubber stamp his move to St Mary's

As predicted on this site earlier in the week, Tadanari Lee did not meet the requirements to gain a work permit when Saints initially applied for it sometime last week, although the club made no mention of this when announcing he was training at Staplewood.

Their appeal to the FA was heard today and the Club have been succesful in gaining the FA backing for the work permit, however this does not mean that Lee now has clearance to play in this country, it merely means that he has the FA's backing when he puts in his full application for a work permit to the UK border agency.

The FA & UKBA had agreed set guidelines as to when a player should be granted a work permit and normally if the FA turn down the application then so would the UKBA, however the player can now put in his application papers and given that he has the FA backing it should be a formality, but it should be stressed that it is still the UKBA who have the final say in the matter.
