Sky Sports have reported that Dale boss Keith Hill has applied for the vacant manager's job at Walsall after the sacking of their manager Jimmy Mullen.

The Saddlers are without a manager following the sacking of former Burnley boss Jimmy Mullen on Saturday, despite not having played a game since December 28th. Walsall lie in 12th place in League One.

The News of the World has reported that former Carlisle boss John Ward is set to be named as the new Walsall boss, whilst former Walsall player Mark Kinsella has also been linked with the position.

But the concerns for Dale supporters comes with the reports that Hill has applied for the job, with the worry that his application could become a successful one.

Hill has seemingly become frustrated in recent days at missing out on a number of players during the transfer window as he looks to emulate or better last season's achievement of reaching the Play Offs.
