He never missed a Saturday sports programme on Radio Manchester (GMR) in 31 years (1989 to last Saturday) - something we'll never see the like of again
I spoke to him on more than one occasion (usually next to the radio van outside the ground) and he was always happy to discuss football and the Dale especially. A genuinely good bloke who gave us and the other local clubs outside the Premiership great publicity

£1 a week will be available shortly on line
I have signed up for £53.31 this year and then £52.00 yearly after that
I have just had an e-mail from Claire (Frances assistant I think) who tells me
"Yes the paper direct debit leaflet is for the £1.00 per week sign up and the online is for the £2.00 sign up.
This has been amended to include an option online for the £1.00 per week (2 membership package)
This option will be on the website shortly alongside a marketing campaign to promote this to the fans." |

Today’s Sky Bet League One match against Tranmere Rovers at the Crown Oil Arena has been postponed.
The fourth official of today's game has taken into account the height of the water table under the pitch, the surface water on the pitch from the rain already today and the forecast of Storm Dennis, and has therefore decided to call the game off.
A rearranged date for the game will be announced in due course.
Tickets already purchased will be valid for the rearranged date or can be refunded in full. Dale fans can do this at the RAFC Ticket Office, whilst Tranmere supporters must contact their own club’s Ticket Office.
Rochdale AFC apologises to all supporters for any inconvenience caused, but unfortunately the weather conditions have proved too extreme for the pitch. |

Be honest you aren't a Dale fan and you haven't a clue as to what goes on at the club

Kindly give us the names of "people who have in the past, taken action against the board ready to do the same again."

I have never read such utter garbage for a long time and I say this as a long time supporter and shareholder
Your penultimate sentence suggests you aren't - as you haven't a clue as to what has happened at the club in recent times
You seem to be suggesting we spend money we don't have
On our crowds and budget that we are in Division One is a miracle in itself
You should be thankful we are in the Football League |

As a schoolboy I used to go to Bury and/or Bolton if I couldn't get to Spotland (on the bus). In the 1960s I was at the last game of the season. BWFC were at Charlton and needed a win to have a chance of promotion (they lost 2-0) and Wimbledon were beginning their rise up the Football League and were at Gigg. Wimbledon won 4-1 and I can still remember one of their goals at the Cemetery end and I was standing at the half-way line opposite the main stand. I also went to a night game when BFC played Chelsea. Tommy Docherty went to see Bolton's Wyn Davies who was scoring lots of goals but he was marked out of the game by Colin Waldron who he signed instead!!
As far as I am concerned it is just as much a disaster for us (and all the local football league teams and football in general) as it is for Bury and their supporters. We've lost around £70000 in gate receipts this season - times this over a number of seasons and we are talking a lot of money which we badly need
Only the most biased and ignorant Dale supporter will be happy at what has happened. Hopefully they will be able to do a Wimbledon and get back in the Football League
We should thank ourselves luckly that it is BFC and not us who have been taken over by people who don't give one jot about the club and its history - who mortgage the club, take out loans at massive interest rates, spend money they don't have and owe millions to local companies, hmrc and Bury Council
If nothing else the EFL should be 100% reorganised so that never again can people like Day and Dale be allowed to own a football club |

If we lose both games
If Wimbledon, Bristol Rovers, Gillingham, Southend, Scunthorpe and Shrewsbury all win both their remaining games and Wycombe beats Fleetwood and Accrington beats Portsmouth (and also say Walsall beats Peterborough not thta it matters)
andd you'ld get massive odds for all the above to happen but if it did the table will read

Simon Jordan says Bolton Wanderers’ prospective new buyer is EVEN WORSE than current owner Ken Anderson.
English businessman Laurence Bassini ‘won’t have Bolton’s best interests in mind’, according to the talkSPORT pundit, who added: ‘just ask Watford fans’.
Former Watford owner Bassini was revealed as the man set to save Bolton from impending liquidation during the club’s latest High Court hearing on Wednesday.
Bolton chairman Ken Anderson is eager to sell the club
But the news has not been welcomed with open arms due to Bassini’s chequered history, in terms of both his personal finances and his ill-fated spell in charge at Vicarage Road, which lasted all of 13 months.
The 48-year-old has TWICE been declared bankrupt and was banned from owning an EFL club for three years in 2013 for alleged financial misconduct.
He has since been cleared to return to football by the EFL and now looks set to take over at Bolton, having vowed to take the Trotters back to the Premier League.
But former Crystal Palace owner Jordan believes his arrival could be bad news for the in-trouble club.
“I know him, I dealt with him when I was trying to do a deal on Portsmouth in 2012,” he told talkSPORT host Jim White on Wednesday.
“And I’m sorry, but if Bolton fans think they’ve got a problem with Ken Anderson, they’re going to have a bigger problem with Laurence Bassini.
Bolton have been given extra time to pay their debts
“It’s no surprise Ken has been keeping this under wraps, now that we know who it potentially is.
“I think Bolton fans deserve better than this. Everyone deserves an opportunity to rehabilitate and reform, but this is not a guy who is going to go into Bolton with their bests interests in mind — just ask Watford fans.
“I’ve dealt with him, I know what he was all about when we tried to a deal on Portsmouth.
“It’s not sour grapes, I’ve got no issue with what he is or isn’t.

I have the official match programme (No. 0105). They must have printed thousands - it cost 2d. Eight pages but actually just one sheet of paper - but when folded measures about 8 and 1/2 inches x 5 and 1/2 inches. So quite clever and no staples needed
There are photos of each of the eleven Dale players with their name and position, followed by an Editoral which includes
"Never before in the history of local soccer football has such a big crowd collected for a match as there will be on this ground this afternoon and it will make a sight to be remembered"
"To Notts County, the oldest league club in the country, we offer a hearty welcome. We give them credit for being the drawing power with their "star" players who have put up the attendance and receipt receipt records and we hope the game is worthy of the event"
British Rail advert Rochdale to Manchester first-class 2s 3d and third class 1s 6d
They had a football excursion from Rochdale to Southport on 27 Dec which cost 5s 3d (I assume return). Departed 12.04 and returned at 4.50 (no added on time in those days fortunately!)

It's a great sport when a team can get the same result away at Juventus and Rochdale in the same week.

I agree that we shouldn't have any matches called off - or if we had then no more than Bolton/Bury/Blackburn/Oldham - but if we had drainage problems there was no margin for error - we can see the outcome
I cannot speak for Oldham but certainly Bury and Bolton (which I pass through numerous times each week) haven't had anything like as much rain as we've had in Rochdale in the last 2-3 months
With the weather as it is being in the foothills of the Pennines (five miles away ?) is one of the worse places to be if you want plenty of rain |

Just to give you some idea of how bad it has been in Lancashire since November 18. The West Lancs Football League - which includes clubs from north of Bolton to Fylde Coast (Blackpool) to the Lake District and up to Barrow
Nov 25 - 27 games out of 31 called off
Dec 9 - 25 games out of 29 called off
Dec 16 - 23 games out of 29 called off
Dec 23 - 13 games out of 19 called off
Dec 30 - all 20 games called off
Jan 20 - 23 games out of 28 called off
Jan 27 - 24 games out of 31 called off
Feb 3 - 22 games out of 28 called off
Today - 28 games out of 31 called off
Pitches just cannot cope with incessant rain for weeks on end. I have never known so such much rain, as we've had over the last three months, in the last 50 years !!
Some WLL clubs have only played 13 matches out of 34 - if the Dale have a fixture pile up it's nothing compared to the West Lancs League
Although (allegedly) errors seem to have been made with putting the right type of sand to help our pitch drain better there is only so much rain a pitch can take - make no mistake we have had masses more rain in this part or the world than anywhere else in the country !! |

Wilson seems harldy ever to comes off his line, not least for corner kicks, and doesn't command his area. His kicking in finding our players over the half-way line is not all that brilliant. He has made some excellent saves one on one
I would have Logan back in for the rest of the season if given the choice
What is does show is how consistent Josh was - he made the occasional error like all keepers (and the stick he got on this forum was utter nonsense !) |

If our wins and losses had been spread more evenly throughout the season most Dale fans would be saying what a great season we are having - 34 games played and we've already got 50 points
If we can beat and/or get near to our 69 points from last season it will be a job well done
Steady improvement each season is good enough for me - which is what Hilly is aiming for
That we have 50 points already in this divison is a far greater achievement than getting 80+ points at the end of the season in divison 2 as far as I am concerned |

The referee made one or two strange decisions but he was certainly not the worst we've had this season
Andy Cannon was very lucky not to get sent off when he tackled Duffy on the touchline. I was a few yards away and Cannon was late with his challenge and went right on Duffy's ankle with his studs- well after the ball was on its way into the goal area. It could easily have been a broken ankle and Duffy certainly wasn't feinging injury as some Dale fans near me were saying he was to the referee |

But what impressed me most was the "technique" of our players. There can be very feam teams in this divison who are technically as good as we are
Our long passing from one side of the pitch to the other was superb along with our close control in midfield. Jamie Allen had a great game
It was also good to see our players bombing down the wings at every opportunity
If we get entertainment as good as we got yesterday for the rest of our home games, regardless of whether or not we get into the play-offs, I will be more than happy |

Great credit to the club for taking this action
It will not be cheap and no doubt a large six figure sum is involved - but then we almost certainly have never had such a large amount of money in Dale bank a/c [thanks to Scott Hogan]
Hopefully (baring a disastrous spell of weather in the coming weeks) it will mean at the end on the season there will be little work needed to be done on the pitch compared to previous seasons
Hopefully we can get all our injured players back asap to benefit from the 'new' pitch |
