Armstrong extended
at 02:21 13 Jun 2024

I think I am probably higher on Armstrong than most. Even though his finishing is lacking (to be kind), we always look more threatening with him out there than with our other options. But his agent definitely appears to be a problem, linking him with Barcelona, Celtic, Man City before he even made a first team start with us. Has never seemed like he really wanted to be here and looking for the next move. Just sell him.

Gah. We have to take our chances. I am not as anti-Dykes as some, but this game is calling out for Sinclair. Ballard is looking very ropey.

This is too much. The other sport/team I follow as closely as QPR had their own burnergate scandal several years ago. What are the odds!?!?

Subs NOW. We are going to lose this otherwise. This isn’t working.

You aren’t encouraged by the threat of False 9 Pedder on at 70 minutes!?

I’d bring Smyth on at half for either Willock or Dykes (and move Willock inside if the latter). Armstrong threat of pace/strength is all we have right now.

New broom? – Preview
at 03:37 14 Jan 2024

I agree with this take. Maybe we are headed towards being swallowed up in a multi-club consortium, and that takes a bit more time to iron out than simply getting some new investors. Not saying anything new here, but placing a 26 year old in charge of the entire QPR business is pretty wild. It’s one thing to bring the analytics guy in and hand him the keys to the footballing decisions, but I do think it is something else to give someone seemingly with little organizational leadership experience control of all that goes into running a club, ground, academy, community relations, etc. We can’t say following QPR is boring.

Also, I could be making this up, but I recall reading on this message board speculation about Hoos returning to the U.S. to help with World Cup stuff.

Long time lurkers....dont be shy.
at 16:03 11 Jan 2024

I’ll say hi. Similar longtime lurker, very occasional poster. Discovered Clive on Twitter and found the website. Clive, when you are not writing more than 100 articles a year on match previews, reports, and transfers, you should seriously consider writing a book. Truly gifted.

My tie to the club is definitely less “authentic” or whatever than most of you. I am an American in my 40s. Like many over here, played the sport all growing up, but it was challenging in the 80s and 90s to find much European football on TV. I played a DOS text computer game called “The Soccer Game 2”starting in the early 90s, a precursor to Football Manager I guess. Thought the name “QPR” was different than the rest, so always played as them (this would continue in other video games as I got older, though don’t have time for that now).

When the TV deals exploded over here about 15 years ago and it became a lot easier to watch a lot of games, I needed to find a team to adopt. I grew up outside of Philadelphia and to that point my entire personality had been formed around rooting for teams that consistently disappointed; it would have been out of character to adopt one of the big clubs (talk about a sliding doors moment for my happiness)…so I went with the team I fictionally followed up until that point. This was also around when my kids were born, and having something to consistently watch at 7am on a weekend when I would have previously been sleeping was great.

I finally made it to Loftus Road for the Preston game last April. Terrible game obviously, but you really have something special there. Anyway, I’ll shut up. Come on you r’s.

Definitely get the same impression regarding Marti’s take of Armstrong. There have been too many times since Marti got here where it otherwise would have made sense to start him/bring him on as a sub and it hasn’t happened. Big chance here. Kelman dropping all the way out of the squad is also interesting (deserved probably). Every manager has seemed intrigued and then immediately dropped and moved on after a couple games. Is Kolli banged up? I don’t recall seeing him on the bench or development squad in a while…

He made a strange comment during the last match that I didn’t quite catch about someone stepping down because of bullying allegations…I wonder if it has anything to do with that…

QPR seek new investors
at 14:42 23 Nov 2023

Only new item in this piece that I don’t think we already knew was the share percentages for each of the owners post-Tony divesting. Interesting Reilly has second largest holding. I thought I heard at fans forum that Ruben and Amit had bought Tony’s shares (I could be misremembering). Maybe this was posted to the companies house registry prior, but if so I missed it.

Really undisciplined group when it comes to the cards they have accumulated. I think that is at least the second yellow Smyth has gotten this year for that same type of reaction.

We’re also such a disaster right now, if I were the club, I’d cool it with the cheeky twitter posts on announcing a new manager… but maybe I am just in a bad mood…

Without knowing really anything about the guy, he intrigued me when he was rumored in the winter. However, I do worry we are again doing things out of order. As Clive has beat the drum on for some time now, we need a DoF to oversee a reset at the club. Would much preferred to get the DoF in first and let them pick their manager. Can be awkward when it is done the other way…

I could only muster 4-4-2 also, but think QPRoslo is probably right. Surely at most we only have one more game of this nonsense.

Don’t even really blame Larkeche. Manager put a young player in a position not to succeed. Look forward to watching him as our LB in league one.
