'Meet Blackpool' - a Millwall Preview
at 17:41 27 May 2015

Clearly there are a lot of bored website editors who have nothing to do over summer and so Millwall have started a 'Meet the Opposition' feature on their website. Not that the guy had much to go on but if Andrea Orlandi is our 'one to watch' next season, the trousers and boxers will be lowered in a certain men's outfitters shop window!

Meet Millwall's League One opponents
BLACKPOOL

Founded: 1887

Stadium: Bloomfield Road

Nicknames: Seasiders, Tangerines

Position last year: 24th in the Championship

Manager: Position currently vacant

Key player: Blackpool currently have just nine senior players on their books as the club prepare for life in League One following relegation at the end of a turbulent 2014/15 campaign.

Midfielder Andrea Orlandi, who finished top scorer with four goals last season, is one of those nine players announced on the club's retained list.

Orlandi moved to the Seasiders 10 months ago, having enjoyed spells at Swansea City and then Brighton & HA.

He initially penned a one-year deal and having been one of the few shining lights in a miserable campaign, scoring four goals in 30 starts, Blackpool activated their one-year option on his contract.

Top scorer: Andrea Orlandi (4 goals)

Head-to-head: The Tangerines and Lions have met on 46 previous occasions and Blackpool just edge the stats with 16 wins to Millwall's 14 in all competitions. The remaining 16 matches have finished all square.

Blackpool have enjoyed great home comfort over Millwall in recent years, winning the previous four meetings at Bloomfield Road.

However, their fortunes have not been so great on the road when heading to south east London, winning just once in their previous 16 visits to The Den, both old and new.

Last time we met: Peter Clarke's first goal since October 2011 gave bottom-of-the-table Blackpool a 1-0 victory over fellow strugglers Millwall on Saturday 10th January 2015.

The defender headed Jamie O'Hara's free-kick into the net from eight-yards in the first-half.

Substitute Stefan Maierhofer had Millwall's best chance after pouncing on an error from Clarke, but shot high and wide with the goal the gaping.

Blackpool: Lewis, Clarke, Dunne, McMahon, O'Dea (Hall, 21mins), Perkins, Orlandi, Oliver (Henshall, 61mins), O'Hara, Davies (Sene, 67mins), Delfouneso. Subs not used: Parish, Ferguson, Nosworthy, Mellis.
Scorer: Clarke (33mins)

Millwall: Forde, Dunne, Harding (Gregory, 61mins), Wilkinson, Nelson, Martin, Woolford, Abdou, Chaplow, Fuller (Maierhofer, 59mins), McDonald (Gueye, 74mins). Subs not used: Bywater, Shittu, Briggs, Upson.

Theories of what's going on?
at 11:42 25 May 2015

Anyone else thinking that we've already been turned down by some candidates when Karl has presented the terms of the job and the budget and that's why Kyle's name is in the mix as a last resort?!
