Good to see him back. By all accounts he did ok at Reading, certainly no lack of commitment there. I've always admired his hard working attitude, true he is not the most gifted player in the world, but with his work ethos in mind, he rates somewhere in my top 10 of all time Rangers players. I hope he returns with the good standards he has shown in the past. |

It must be hard to write a good constructive piece after that diabolical showing, but you have done just that Clive at least to the best of your ability.
My sentiments run parallel with York Ranger's. A total feeling of numbness and emptiness. Not since we played under Houston imo, have we looked so consistently lethargic. I gave up going to Loftus Road while he was in charge. We now have a manager who in the past inspired at some clubs, but looks totally burnt out with us, but is too proud to throw the towel in, coupled with an owner who seems reluctant to deal with him. I've said on some threads on the forum that this club is rotten throughout and I can't see any brightness at the end of the long dark abyss that this club seems to have fallen into. It does not deserve at present to be in the Premier League. The football is embarrassing and laughable for this level. Even Derby in their infamous 12pt season tried to make a fight of things much of the time.
Time for a change, yet again, but who with? I've been toying with the notion of Bilic, a colourful character who manages with passion,and we've not seen that since Mr Warnock arrived. That's just my take on things, but what do I know. Does Mr Fernandes know any better? |

I was looking forward to this game as past encounters have been quite exciting, but Monday night didn't match up to my expectations from both sides at all. QPR looked fearful, disenchanted and rudderless, Derby though not great on the eye, were rugged and well drilled and seemed more up for it. Nobody in the QPR team that night seemed to have a decent game, Barton covered lots of ground was targetted by a couple of Derby go getters thus setting him up for his annoyingly petulant attitude throughout to the point where I thought a red card shown to him wouldn't go amiss. Dunne was like a rampaging elephant, Hill was frustrated, Krancjar simply awful, Doyle anonymous, Maiga, I've seen better at Ryman League standard and Green was displaying some of his past notoriety with dodgy punch outs and a near confidence crushing miss kick. Hughes on his debut looked OK, but maybe his team mates around him were making him look better than he really was. I don't know, but what a terrible performance. Had we played like that against a team who were playing in top gear, we would have been in for a pounding and rightly so.
While I'm still hopeful of a positive outcome at the seasons conclusion, I couldn't help feel there was a look of despondency about the team on Monday, in that all is not well in the air. We are falling back into our familiar sulky selves, an attitude that blighted our last two campaigns. Christ, I hope we improve on Sunday. |

After watching yet another lame performance last night, I was left wondering whether this was just QPR being their usual festive time mean spirited selves or whether Harry's methods are being well and truly found out. Or maybe a combination of both? Whatever it is, the club need to snap out of their predicament or else the second half of the season could be very different from the first half. |

A good report on a good game. Agree with you Clive, the Reading keeper made some decent saves, but most he had covered, more down to what appeared to be hurried shooting rather than precision aiming. However seeing this from the terraces as opposed to the comfort of a pub seat could put a different perspective on the observations.
Barton MoM? Thought I'd never hear myself say that. He did well. But I still don't like him. |

Good report Clive. Nice to start the campaign with a win. There has been a little too much emphasis on a certain player since Saturday. Yes him, Barton. Surely he contributed to the teams efforts on the day and may not have had a bad game, but let's not let the individual draw away the fact the victory was not from him or about him, but from the rest of the team who pulled together reasonably well to beat a tough Wednesday side.
There's a long way to go and there will be tougher adversaries than the Owls, but an encouraging start all the same. |

Mark Hughes is history at our club and granted not good history, but it's time to let that chapter to rest now and concentrate on what applies to the club now and the future. Good luck to him at Stoke, but I won't be watching out for their results next season just to see if he flunks again. He's their problem,not ours. Let's focus on the oddball we have in charge at our club at the moment and see if he can get things right at a lower level. |

Very much agree with 18 Stone's comments. I've never been a fan of Redknapp though, too much of a sporting media show horse if you ask me and now past his best. Time to be put out to grass I think.
Know one knows for sure what next season might reveal, player or manager wise. I won't be disappointed if Redknapp goes though. The club needs to take a long look at itself in the mirror. Bring in a fresh young manager instead of an ageing has been and build a team with younger hungrier players who don't cost an arm and a leg. Even if it means stabilising for a couple of years in the Championship, then so be it, but if the club is to return to the 'promised land' again, I want it to be better prepared, advised and run and look like they want to be there.
Saturday really seemed a white flag waving exercise. I don't expect too much at the 'battle of the flops' at Reading next week. |

Looks like this team has lost any semblance of a stomach for a fight now, judging by Saturdays performance. If a club allows itself to be battered by teams not even playing in top gear, then there is little hope.

Agree with JB007007, but this was another frustrating game and Norwich,going on their current form were there for the taking.
Was very impressed with Townsend and Samba did OK as well. Cesar ensured R's didn't lose this one with a couple of fine saves. He has improved ten fold since HR's arrival as have others, but penalty miss aside, the club lacks that ruthless quality to win games. I may use the old cliche that the club have set themselves up not to lose games, but not to win either. They have become draw specialists, which is OK if you are encamped in the mid table comfort zone, but when you are bottom and losing ground on the safety net, not so ideal.
Haven't quite lost faith just yet though. |

Agree with your points saying that QPR are not a likeable club at present. Everything about them at present both on and off the field wreaks of fetid mayhem.That was a shockingly inept performance on Sunday.
A Liverpool fan in the pub where us local tortured QPR fans were watching came up to us at the end of the game and pronounced that QPR were a disgrace to the Premier League with that showing. You know, he wasn't wrong and he wasn't saying this with any malice. We kind of all agreed with him and left it at that.

Lovely piece of writing Roller. I think many football aficianados today have sadly forgotten Sexton and what a fine manager he was with both Chelsea and QPR. I was fortunate to see my first Rangers game when he was in charge, the 5-0 demolition of Everton at LR. The continental style football he instilled was ahead of its time and also attracted with it many detractors.He will never be forgotten. Sadly some United and Chelsea 'fans' I have chatted to since his departure from this world were unaware of him. I wonder why that is??? |
