I read that RC had provided stats to show discounted tickets not cost effective. Well my local team Maritimo who have a capacity similar to Colchester and were as good as relegated a couple of months ago. Well as a season ticket holder (70€ behind goal) for the last few games I have been sent a text offering two free tickets. It has worked as the ground has been close to full and the atmosphere absolutely electric. Today also the sponsors had also provided every seat with one of those annoying things you fold and it makes a noise but 9000 of them going for 90 mins was amazing. Result 3 out of 4 wins at home only defeat to Benfica and we’ve clawed our way to 3rd bottom which is a one off play off with the 3rd place team in 2nd division. 3 points adrift of 4th bottom team but we play them away last game !!! A plane trip maybe. So perhaps instead of discounted tickets this be the way to it encourages the loyal ST holders to help their team. The electric atmosphere we had at Layer road was always our 12th man Have a good Sunday |

If watching Colchester hasn’t been bad enough over the last 3 months and the appointment of another manager with no league experience. Spare a thought my other team Maritimo currently sit slap bang bottom of the Portuguese Liga , other than an amazing victory in Porto it’s been like watching Colchester in Portuguese!!! Like Mr Cowling the president sacked the manger and today the new manager unveiled a Julio Velázquez Having googled him he has been a manager for 20 years and managed 20 clubs WTF It’s enough to drive one to drink !!!!!! Non league and segunda liga for me next year |
| Forum Thread | Ball gone at 22:31 23 Feb 2021
Issued 10.25 Colchester United can confirm that Steve Ball has left his role as U's Head Coach. Owner and Chairman Robbie Cowling said: "Following the game tonight and a discussion I had with Steve, it was decided that the best way forward was for him to leave his position as Head Coach." "Steve has been with the club in different capacities for a long time and I would like it placed on record our thanks to him for his hard work and dedication." "The club will make no further comment at this time." |
| Forum Thread | And you thought watching Col Utd was stressful at 17:43 28 Jan 2021
As you know, and by my account picture I also follow Maritimo from Madeira in the Portuguese Liga Last night 1/4 final Portuguese cup v Estoril from division below. Having been taken to extra time by a forth tier team two rounds ago upset always on the card But having beaten Sporting last round !!! 1-0 up at 90 mins 7 min added time concede a penalty in the 10th yes 10th minute of extra time !! Then lost 1-3 in extra time I think I’ll start watching netball !! |

Nice 2 page write up about Jevani in the Sun this morning. Although as usual factually wrong. Apparently he signed for us in the Summer after having been loaned to FCR by Cambridge. No mention of Spurs Pananka penalty lol |

About to depart Guernsey for Clacton to bury my bestie , spent many many hours together at Layer Road and beyond . Also many beers sunk at British Grennie and Bricklayers. He was 63 he had issues in his rear end he did nothing for three years. Went to GP a couple months ago , saw him 6/2 he had full diagnosis 8/2 dead 10 days later. Gentlemen, please please check places you maybe embarrassed checking if in doubt see your doctor , don’t ignore it. If caught early 90% curable , in Guernsey bowel cancer 3rd most frequent cancer. Check your poo check your balls |

So how many people tried it out. I'm watching my second game , quite impressed , compared with £40 a year just to listen thought £110 not a bad deal. Only issue would appear to be a few second delay on sound so you hear the groans of another wasted change after the event. But overall quite happy , and £110 cheaper than one flight from Guernsey |

You will be aware of the fantastic book outlining the history of Layer Road written and compiled by Matt Hudson and Jim French. When the book was first released I was bought a copy by my daughter , what a brilliant read. However since then my sister has also bought it as a birthday present and for Christmas this year guess what my son bought me , yes copy number 3 I have had them on E Bay but no takers I would love to let someone who loves Col U get a bargain The book retails at £25/26 but happy to let my two spare copies go at £18 including post costs a saving of a tenner. Any interest please inbox me Guernsey PS please don't share this post on official forum my sisters husband is on there and I haven't had the heart to tell any of them I already had the book |

Can someone who is going to the game on Saturday do me a favour. Mrs A is getting jumpy as only 107 sleeps till Santa arrives !! I like watches, I know the club shop has a watch , however no image on the website. I have put it up on the OMB and Matt promised to speak to the shop but nothing. I have called and e mailed shop but never a had a call back or reply. So if someone could pop in shop take a snap and post it on here I would be every so grateful. Cheers Guernsey |

In the Sun (so it must be true) Luke refusing to sign his new contract, due to still being 3rd in pecking order at Everton. Don't think he'd drop down to the third (or 4th) tier permanently, but happy to see him back till end of season when he becomes free agent |

The Guernsey FC bubble seems to have well and truly burst, 3 points off the drop zone , 10 defeats and worst defensive record in Ryman South. Ross Allen not played much , were they really a one man team !!! Last night set new record 8-0 defeat |
| Forum Thread | Guernsey 14/15 at 16:55 13 Sep 2014
Slow start for the green lions Ross Allen the prolific scorer declined to take part in pre season so stuttered start Lost in FA Cup Qualifier against Worthing However in the last week 2 games 2 wins the last being a 8-1 victory over Three Bridges(Allen 3) Sorry for lack of updates |
