Local League Cup Finals at Liberty stadium
at 18:22 27 May 2014

Great day for the boys at the Liberty at the weekend
Landore won the Cup Final, Garden Village won the Plate Final.

All the staff at the stadium were absolutely fantastic, and really helped to make it a great experience for the junior teams.

(Don't know the results for the senior games I'm afraid, but I'm sure someone can supply them)

I wouldn't go overboard on the "giving something back" feeling.
As I understand it, the League paid quite a fee for use of the Liberty.

Still a great experience for the players though.

I hope Huw has bought Garry a great big calendar with all the players' birthdays already filled in.

Might be worth investing in a highlighter to mark Bony's birthday, just to be on the safe side.

My mum is great at remembering everyones birthdays, and getting them a card, if they want to be absolutely sure they never forget......

The 'SKYS THE LIMIT'!
at 10:58 13 May 2014

I suspect it's merely the investment to return calculation that's holding the expansion back.

How much is the first stage 5000 capacity expansion supposed to cost?
If/when it's completed, at £500 for a season ticket, and if all sold out, it would bring in £2.5M per year.

Balance that against the constant calls to "spend spend spend" on players of the quality we need to stay up. Premier League TV money etc probably offers a much better return for the money invested to ensure we stay up.

It is a balancing act. While I agree it would be to the benefit of the fans to expand, I can understand why the club are being cautious investing money in expansion when it offers a much lower (and less certain) rate of return.

BORO FAN HERE RE EMNES
at 00:16 13 May 2014

I'm with PozuelosSideys on this one.

Been very pleasantly surprised with his performance in every match.

The fact Boro don't particularly want him, and we don't "need" him (though he'd be very useful to have), would hopefully mean we'd be in a good position to negotiate a reasonable price.

Definitely be happy with him signing for us for the right price.

New League Structure To Include Fictional Football Teams
at 00:20 10 May 2014

“So if you are lose-draw-draw, you might sneak a home win against the school team from Gregory’s Girl, but you are going to get taken apart by Melchester, particularly if the committee decides that Roy is on form at the moment.”

He added: “Harchester United from Sky One’s Dream Team will be another big test for the real clubs, but they can also be confident of a win against sides like Renford Rejects and Jossy’s Giants because they are just children.

“I suspect that most seasons League 3 will be a two-horse race between the PoWs and the Nazis from Escape to Victory.”

New League Structure To Include Fictional Football Teams
at 13:46 9 May 2014

"THE new football league structure will see established clubs playing hypothetical matches against some of Britain’s favourite fictional teams.

FA chairman Greg Dyke said the new League 3 will develop young English talent by helping them imagine what it would be like to play against Roy Race from Melchester Rovers.

Dyke said: “A committee will decide how a real team fares against a fictional team based on the real team’s three previous results."

Yet more hysteria and massive overreaction

Of course I should have said "That was far from an apathetic crowd. Got behind the team. I'd have said it was intense support - from East, West and South, and especially the Swans in the North Stand"

I wasn't having a go. It was a serious question, honestly.

We are in a fight, and the team and the supporters did a pretty good job on Sunday, after we'd gone down to 10 men. Plenty of passion shown there, and put to good use.

And I take comfort from that fact. I'd like to see it produce points though, the same as everyone else.

Isn't the apochryphal Chinese curse "May you live in interesting times"?
Well, even the old bloke who sits next to me and usually just moans good naturedly about how shit Routledge is when he means DeGuzman (and vice versa) was cheering on the team and clapping along to "Gary Monks Barmy Army" on Sunday.

It's a sign, I tell you. Interesting times indeed.

"Football is a passionate sport, if there isnt a bit of hysteria and overeaction we have become far too comfortable as supporters and thats why the liberty is more like a library these days, apathy has taken over passion. "

Were you there Sunday? I thought the support was exactly what any team would want from their fans. That was far from an apathetic crowd. Got behind the team. I'd have said it was intense support - from East, West and South.....

End of the road for Laudrup
at 18:31 27 Dec 2013

I genuinely think all the doom and gloom that we have seen, especially on this forum, but in general as well, stems from our defeat to Cardiff.
Our team were defeated in a game that they were perceived to not have tried hard enough to win.
Whether everyone will admit it or not, it hurts us supporters/fans to lose to Cardiff more than it hurts to lose to any other team, (not that it matters any more than any other match in the great scheme of things, but it does in our minds).
This has coloured all perceptions since then.
If my theory is correct, all this wailing and gnashing of teeth will continue until exactly February 8th, when everything will be restored to it's correct perspective....or the world falls apart completely, :-)

The Expansion.
at 17:46 11 Nov 2013

A bit like sex, attending a football match CAN be done on your own, but it's more fun with a friend (or even a group), :-)

Like it or not, it IS a valid reason that puts people off.
Expansion would hopefully offer more options, and the seats would be mostly filled
I like the Arsenal idea for re-selling seats that won't be used for particular matches.

Wembley Tickets in my hands...
at 14:17 14 Feb 2013

Postie must be a Swans fan as he was grinning as he announced "Here's your Wembley tickets" and handed them over. Or maybe it just makes a change from all the bills...
Properly excited now I actually have them.
Block 108, so on the opposite corner to where we were for the play-off final.
Had a pretty good view for that, so quite pleased.
