Slate me to your hearts content but i think we have a reasonably good crop of players that have been badly managed. MoPo/Puel practically removed all football impetus from the team, turning them from a decent squad which used to play attacking 'saints way' football into a timid sideways passing excuse for a team. I dont blame the players for this i blame the managers and those who appointed them. |

Absolute disgrace the way he has been treated by MP. 2 up front with him and Charlie would of been dynamite, instead our idiot of a manager plays the useless donkey Long!!!! Should offload Long instead. But i suppose its too late for that although Gabbi and Carillo combo would offer more than Long on his lonesome?

Great result but why oh why does MP insist on defending a 1 goal lead. I was close to putting money on them scoring and nicking a draw. I just don't understand what goes through his head, we were controlling comfortably, looking like another goal was on the cards and he shifts to his defensive frame of mind and invited them on, bloody atrocious manager. Still a result is all that counts :-) |

LordDZLucan is right, the problem is the single loan striker. Theres no need to spend on a defence when we have an ok one. No need to buy a striker as ours are fine. The problem is the service, we need, imho, a decent attacking midfielder who threatens and pushers back oppositions. One that opens up defences allowing our two strikers more freedom from defenders. |

True words there. The only thing i dont agree with is Long. Austin should start with Gabbi. Austin is not an impact sub, he needs game time and he needs to start. Long is the perfect impact with his speed, he just needs to come on earlier rather than with 5 mins left on the clock. The danger today is the managers style of play, we cannot defend for 90 mins against Chelsea. Go with a 3-5-2 and take it to them? |

I agree with a lot of the above points. FF has lost his mojo and looks very loose in goal. At his height he should be in total domination of the 6 yard box.
Cedric and Bertrand are so obviously told not to range forward, you can see the frustration in their faces however there also never seems to be a link man in midfield? Lemina fits that position perfectly. Imagine Romeu and Davis with Lemina in front amd Gabbi and Austin up front. Bring SL on as an impact sub, by this time his pace against a tired defence would be great.
Tadic and Redmond are so overrated, had a good season (well Tadic did) and have not shown an iota since then. Boufal is emerging and is more hungry to play. The speed of build up is infuriating but as we have no link up player in mid this is going to happen.
I am no coach by the way just making what i think are obvious conclusions. |

Well ill go against the general consensus and say i wish he had gone. I dont believe he will play at his fullest from now on, maybe pick up a niggling injury etc etc. We should of sold him for the 60mil and invested in a decent midfielder and maybe a striker.
Dont get me wrong he is a great player however he has shown some very poor qualities which wont disappear overnight. Merson believes Victor wont play until January! we shall wait and see.
Llooking forward to a decent, exciting season now this farce is over... |

Good, sound article which , for what its worth, i agree with. The only point i would argue is the midfield. Boufal is a great player on his day and needs more regular playing time to shine however i still believe we need a stronger attacking midfielder. I am in no doubt that our three forwards can score when given some decent service. 2 up front is a no brainer for me, Austin and Gabbi would dazzle.
On VVD, i admire the stance the board has taken but if other teams are wanting to spend stupid money on him then sell, re-invest in 2 or 3 decent players and forget all about him. Even if he does come back is he going to play heart and soul? I dont think so. Anyway we keep marching on ..... |
