Equality? Not if it involves SWP
at 09:45 17 Dec 2012

I think SWP was vital to how we played on Saturday.

There are times when I loathe him, one thing that frustrates me most when watching football is bad decision making - and SWP is possibly the worst I have ever seen at making decisions on the football field. When to cross, when to shoot, when to pass, when to run at a player - I'm pretty sure he chooses the wrong option 95% of the time!

BUT - Saturday having him and Mackie on the wings meant that both wingers tracked back and worked hard, this helped free Taarabt up to do damage from central positions. He played his part and did it well. Credit where credit is due.

Great signing, true Rangers play if ever I saw one!

One thing i noticed was that after that Fulham game, he seemed to adapt and LEARN from it... If Hughes and the rest of the back room staff can get their teeth into him, and he can show steady improvement over the next couple of seasons, then.... WOW. We could have some player on our hands.

I don't want us to put too much pressure on Ali and Samba in midfield though, and would still like to see us bring in a 'steady eddie' in that area.

Unfortunately the same goes for clubs and supporters... Always looking for improvements in the playing squad and think other players out there should come in, its not surprising players have little loyalty for a club... We have little loyalty for them!

Macca will probably be the last one like it for a while, but if Rigg's grand plan can come together and we can really get some great youth players through again... you never know!

RIP Macca... Utterly devastated by this news. First Captain I ever saw in the Hoops, and set the bar for every Captain since.

Rest in peace. A true QPR legend.

Now we have the experience

To be honest I'm most worried (perhaps unnecessarily) about our central midfield. That's what I'm most keen for us to bolster... Even if signing Diakite is a given.

But all last season I've been concerned that while SWP continues to mis-fire, how we are lacking an 'old-school' winger. I think Mackie is fantastic, but he's never going to be someone who whips quality crosses in. That's where i'd like to see us add someone.

“@aslfitzhall: Sad day for me just been told my contract is not being renewed at QPR.Been at the club 5yrs would of liked to of heard it frm the manager”

The first of many I expect. Shame his injury record was so appalling as I thought on his day he is a top defender.

All the best Fitz.

I think us being a freakish monstrosity would be a lot more to do with what our player wage bill is like, and not due to the appointment of a good head scout (which I think is essentially what Mike Rigg will be). I agree with you though, keeping on high "premiership earners" is a gamble which will only pay off with an immediate return to the Prem - although that depends on Fernandes - is he willing to continue to put cash in for longer?

Man City B team? For now i'd happily take that... having a well respected back room staff who Hughes knows and trusts is better than Gianni. Simple as that.

“@davidmcintyre76: Mike Rigg, who worked under Mark Hughes at Man City and Blackburn, has left City and will join #QPR as technical director on Monday.”

From what I've heard of him, great appointment, we have long needed a complete overhaul of the scouting network, and hopefully this is it.

I noticed this, shows that we QPR fans infiltrate everywhere! I seem to remember there being a QPR slogan on one of the walls in "Bottom".... it was when I was quite young though so can't be sure....

It really is a lottery. He may have a conduction defect in his heart or disease called HOCM (wikipedia it). If they got some good CPR in early then sometimes you can make a really good recovery. But as I say its a lottery... and its not just the brain that can be affected... name an organ, kidneys, gut, etc can all be knocked off. I don't work in intensive care so i'm no expert.

As I say, absolute lottery. All you can do is hope for the best.

Thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

I think there will come a time when Hughes will have to make a choice. We either keep it rigid 442, difficult to break down, and use the wingers to attack from wide positions.

Or we use people like Adel on the left, and play a little "looser" but pose more of a threat.

I honestly don't know what will work better - i think it depends on the game. But I don't think Tarbs should be written off as a left winger - i thought his application and tracking back vs Norwich was very good. I would have reservations about playing him in front of traore down there, but I wouldn't have a problem if it were Taiwo (assuming he is defensively more solid - not seen him play!)

We're going to need him. How many times did we convincingly break through that Wigan back 4 on Saturday? They won't hit the top corner every time.

But to be fair last couple of games he played he was one of our top performers. And did do his fair share of tracking back - i'm sure i saw him put a tackle in!

not saying he should be an automatic starter, but we will need him for the run in.

I think its a very clever way to get a team's confidence back. A well struck shot forcing a save picks everyone up.

As much as think he wouldn't have gone anywhere anyway, the fact he actually wants to be here is a massive factor.

He's a very different player depending on where his head is at. So if he is feeling settled, hopefully that means it will show in his performances for us.

We're still missing that cutting edge he can give us IMHO.

Just seen a tweet from one of the journo's at the African Cup of NAtions.

“@JohnLBennett: Adel Taarabt has told me he was set to leave #QPR in Jan. But now Mark Hughes has taken over, he wants to stay at the club #AFCON2012”

Very good news. Say what you like but if we can harness his talent he could be a huge player for us.

Is this suggesting he would rather stay with Hughes in charge rather than Warnock?

Exactly. He needs to put up or shut up. Be opinionated and controversial all you like if it involves you dragging us up out of the drop zone.

The concern is that our Club's reputation is being dragged through the mud again. Are we trying to become the country's most hated club?!

And whats more, how can this man captain a team which will be full of players who i assume would hold warnock in high regard. The likes of Paddy, Mackie, Derry, and others who he brought in.

He has completely undermined himself. Its just so frustrating! Why do we always create these dramas!
