I was just wondering if any one on lfw has ever sponsored one of the players for a season was thinking about doing it dose anyone know how much it costs ?. And if so which player did you sponsor ??? Ursssssss
Sponsored Kevin Gallens home shirt for 4 years. Was my dads fav player and after he died outside HQ of a heart attack after watching us draw 1-1 with Oxford ( Gallen scored ) my brother and i decided to sponsor King Kevs shirt in my dads name.Cost £300 for the season. For that we got my dads name in the programme for all games at HQ.We also got to go to the players sponsor evening ( Yawn ) where we got to meet the player who we sponsored and was presented with there shirt ( before the players left as quick as they could ).
That was 14 years ago so things ( and prices ) have probably changed a lot since then.
Sponsoring the physio's time would have been very expensive though! I sponsored Langley's home shirt for a few years but in the end got fed up with (most) of the players' attitude to the fans at the sponsors evening event where they couldn't clear off quickly enough, added to the fact that the majority of professional footballers actually have very limited conversational skills!
Sponsored Les Ferdinand's boots when nobody had heard of him. Got loads of stick at the time because he didn't play much and was mostly on the bench, if that. But I did get the last laugh on them, albeit without ever getting any boots or anything at all in fact.
When we went into administration /I decided to sponsor two players shirts to try and put some money into the club. I did it for two seasons running at a cost of £250 for a home shirt (Ben Walshe) and £175 for an away shirt (Richard Paquette). I stopped when I was given a shirt with the creases still in it as it had been taken out of a packet from the club shop. Its a con. The other week at the sponsors do those who had paid for the home shirt were given brand new ones from the shop without numbers or names on them. When fans complained they were told 'its because we are wearing them at Man City'. As we know that was a lie as we wore red.My mate sponsored 2 shirts last season and has been told the price is going up next season to £800. Each !!!!! Obviously our club is looking at a richer clientele as us who pay £40 a game aren't worthy anymore.

Ive sponsored player for a few years now but not any more. You have to sponsor the whole kit at a cost of...wait for it ... £750! not worth it in my opinion and can't see many ordinary fans coughing up
