Violent conduct based on the shoulder bump?? Or are the FA just pretending there really was a headbutt so they don't have to deal with the repercussions on the standard of refereeing and players cheating.
Either way the fact they didn't add a game for frivilous appeal clearly shows to me that they know the decision was wrong, but don't care.

how can it be violent conduct, they really are clueless.
Because there are only 7 sending off offences.
Only two apply - Serious Foul Play (Ball has to be within playing distance) so its the other one - Violent Conduct.
If anyone is interested the others are
Offensive, Insulting abusive language Denying an Obvious Goalscoring opportunity (by foul, moving towards goal) As above by handball but replace opportunity with goal and delete the moving bit! 2 cautions Spitting

But the officials said he was sent off for intent.
Where does this intent come in then?
Never understood that, it implies the officials can read a player's mind.

On the basis of the video evidence available, the ref and the lino would be hard pressed to prove in a court of law that they spotted any violent conduct before the ref whistled for a free kick to us. And if the ref or lino didnt spot the offence, the sending off contravenes FA rules and is therefore not enforceable.

This is my biggest grievance with it as well. The fourth official is not allowed to influence decisions on the pitch. We've already had FIFA covering up this happening with Zidane at the World Cup. Scandalous all round.

The FA have now set a precedent for what constitutes 'violent conduct'
Games are going to finish 7 v 8 every week!
And Johnson's behaviour both on the pitch and at the darts goes unpunished? Given how the a-holes running the FA love throwing disrepute charges about, surely his behaviour warrants some form of charge! W*nkers!
Words utterly fail me. A non existent headbutt that everyone knows the officials didn't even see. Upheld. Frank Lampard with a potentially leg breaking tackle, can't do anything as the ref 'dealt' with it at the time. Rooney gets three game ban for actually kicking someone and they appeal it to uefa. Can't wait to see them deal with terry

What the fcuk is the point of this sport if things like this are allowed to go on. The FA are doing a real good job of undermining football in England and setting a poor example to future generations at the same time.
