Oh there is definitely right or wrong but we often disagree about who is what! For my money, if him over using a phrase annoys you then fair enough, you're entitled to say so. I just don't think it's worth a thread of its own.
A lot of footballers come across as a tad thick or slow on tv because some of them are and most of them don't speak on tv so very often so they are nervous.
I had a brief discussion with Grimes a few years back and he didn't use the phrase once, to my recall anyway. Maybe he uses it to give himself thinking time, something a lot of us do, it doesn't sound as bad as Ummmmmmmm after every question. |
