IRRELEVANT People that INFLUENCE younger players and their POTENTIAL CAREER opti 16:08 - Dec 9 with 2009 views | numptydumpty | Its a thing. Whether that's a RELATIVE / AGENT... Example, I think Chris Willock, would have wished to have stayed at QPR. Rumours his dad and his agent priced him out of QPR and subsequently his likely career more on a DOWNWARD trajectory as a result. Ie I think he wanted to succeed WITH QPR as seemingly great relationship with Marti and the squad. Example, it's been suggested by those ITK on here, Rayan Kolli's dad very vocal about Rayans lack of opportunities on here. And it peed off the powers that be. Ie decisions of selection NOT based on first team FORM SELECTION IDEALS. Similarly in the past similar issues with players we would have preferred to keep perhaps ie BOS, Manning, who were left out over protracted periods. Players that head coaches could have kept but overbearing outsiders deemed we had to say goodbye despite i would say the player themselves wanting to stay. Sometimes it's possibly just perhaps no one likes them ie BARTON or the parent influence ie am trying to understand why on earth KOLLI offered loan to Saudi, given our ever diminishing forward options. I think i am saying something. Whether its i am just bored on a damp dark and soggy Monday who knows Anyhow clearly there are strange factors at play around squad selections otherwise how else can it be explained that Anton Ferdinand s career was mainly Premier league focused !!!

A lot of times it appears the club would rather pay through the nose to bring in a "name" over paying someone who came through the ranks what they are worth.

But what if we take into account all the players who have renewed their contracts, and all those new signings who never signed. Maybe we are favouring current players over new signings. Or maybe we have it exactly right. We just don’t know, do we?

Seems like it’s catch 22 for a club like ours. If they are not getting first team opportunities and rate themselves they want to run the contract down. If they are playing they think they are being undervalued and want to run it down. Norf says the club knew what they had in BOS early on and I think a more ‘canny’ DOF would have got that one over the line.

Well Manning did exactly the same to Swansea as he did to us, ran his contact down and refused to sign so he could get another payday. Suspect regardless of who our DOF was that would have happened. BOS by multiple accounts was a missed opportunity on our side although as you say, I suspect the player is happy with how it turned out so heard to fault his decision.

Funnily enough I totally disagree with this point. What I think, again just like everyone else on here - i.e. having no actual facts about what goes on within the club - is that what Kolli Snr and some on here are asking for is bigger bucks based on potential as opposed to earning the bigger money once you have made the progression from youth to development to first team and proven you are the real deal on a Saturday or winter Tuesday night in Barnsley. Both CN and Marti have passed guarded comments that Rayan knows what he has to do to progress in to the first team and that was accelerated on Tuesday night when Zan had to go off. So he came on and delivered, if Frey and Celar are still not fit this Weds night and he starts again and comes on and has another great game then his stock rises having proven he can do it. Guessing........ I think the big hair comes with a big personality/ego and he has been strutting around the place (maybe his dad telling him he is too good for QPR bench) and thinks he is the next great thing and this is merely a stepping stone for him to bigger things. Daddy is telling the 27yr old DOF to break the bank and sign his son on big wages as he is brilliant otherwise they will go to somewhere where he will be appreciated. Someone said on here after Saturday's game about him being the next Adel....... not sure if that was supposed to be a good or a bad thing because an Adel brings both joy and frustration. Hoping Kolli does start again on Weds, smashes Oxford to pieces and then proves to the club that he is the new messiah and not just a very naughty boy!

never did find out why he didnt turn up for the club photo either ? somebody said he was missing for four days before it with no reason given . at the end of the day those advising him are i think trying to line there own pockets which is wrong on all levels , not much thought ie being given to the actual player

You have obviously never spoken to him at length or you would know he is a long, long way from being a Bertie big bollocks. He comes across as being every bit as humble as Eze, loves playing for QPR and wants to be a regular in the 1st team here. At 19, he is entitled to have a bit of swagger when he plays but don't confuse it with arrogance. It was the same with Ebere for a lot of fans; too lazy etc. Some of the stuff I read on here about players like Eze & Kolli helps me understand why Paddy Kenny got POTY over Adel Taarabt.

I know of one example from a very close sauce that one particular dad of a current England international was an absolute shark in dealing with the clubs personally and was sorting out the right spec Mercs for both him and his Mrs and the 4 bedroom detached house that they would move to with their 15yr old son once they signed and moved norf!

Spot on EL. I wrote on Saturday That I thought his interview with Tyler on the official site showed him to be humble, well balanced, confident but in no way arrogant. Of course, that doesn't take away from the fact that his Dad might have overplayed his hand with Nourry, hence the hardball response from both him and Marti. I strongly suspect we are getting very close to a good old British "meet you in the middle" compromise.

Hence why I used the word “guessing”. There has to be a reason - you’re saying he is grounded and appear to know him. So if that’s the case, what’s the reason for CN and Marti’s comments? Is it the dad who is not so grounded????

check out the agency who was/ is representing him ? lets say he could do way better if they are trying to sort this out with the club

I have had a number of long chats with him at the ground for nearly a year now and when the subject of his exclusion from games was broached I said to him I didn't want to be nosy about it as if anything came to light from something I said would be be a breach of confidence and we would probably never speak again. He said thanks, and that the situation was complicated. That, honestly, is ALL I know about the issue. I never mentioned that his father or agent was being touted as the problem for the reasons stated above.
