5 Things About The Liverpool Game 09:58 - Nov 25 with 2603 views | SaintNick | 1. The Red Wall - this has backfired on us our fans need the away fans to bounce off and that is not happening so there were large gaps of silence from the Northam End, dare I say it we need a drum and a group of ultras willing to keep going throughout the game. 2. Onuachu, showed a lot of battle, but when does he actually get the ball in the box, not his fault, but he is dropping deeper and deeper to get the ball, we need him up front, but we are never going to give him the ball so why play him, not a criticism of the player but our tactics. 3. £6.10 for 4.1% lager, ok you get 10% off for a while before kick off but that is robbery. 4. Didn't see any evidence of Liverpool fans in home areas, anyone see any incidents though. 5. We could win the cup game,

Dibling is a hell of a player, if we keep him beyond this season i'll be amazed, I can't help but think he's on the way to the very top 2. There is absolutely a team in our squad who can compete and had we got rid of Martin earlier we'd have had a shot at staying up (though i think it's probably too late now) 3. Tall Paul looks like he could be very handy, and reminds me a lot of Crouch. 4. The trains were an absolute disaster, the closure of central was bad enough but the storm made things even worse, and it was almost three hours each way to get from london to southampton 5. The red wall makes me actively not want to join in with the atmosphere, its constant songs about pompey (literally four in the first three minutes) and now they're singing about Tall Paul's dick. Honestly it's the worst inbetweeners crap and i'm making less noise than ever as a result of being in there
5 Things About The Liverpool Game on 10:21 - Nov 25 with 2055 views | dirk_doone | 1. I totally disagree. With the previous setup, Liverpool fans would have totally owned St Mary's yesterday and you wouldn't have heard our fans in the corners of the Northam at all. It was much better with the new setup. The atmosphere was good. [Post edited 25 Nov 10:22]

Ironically as Pompey regularly f***ed up in the mid to late 90's and then again in the last 12 years, they ramped up the noise and spent whole matches singing songs to become the self proclaimed best supporters in the World. Anyone can sing their hearts out for the lads when their team is winning games, but it is when the team isnt winning that you find out how good the fans are. Our away support is very good, looking from the Kingsland it seems that the Northam is spread around, you have the original Northam enders to the left, a few who want to sing in the centre and the rest seem to be bemused bystanders who went in there for the atmosphere, but don't seem to realise that it has to be created by them

Block 46 has some of the old Itchen North in it but it's hard to get anything going because the repertoire is dominated by the old norham who just want to sing about pompey. This was the exact problem i pointed out before they did it, and one of the reasons i never thought it work properly. The club made a mistake in thinking because people want to stand and make noise they are the same, when the truth is that we had two pockets of different culture. Anyway i'll be moving next season, just a matter of where to, because I can't deal with the mouth breathers in the northam for another season

From the television, it sounded like the Liverpool fans monopolised the stadium X Factor, even when Saints were winning.

Agreed. First time I have watched a home game on the telly, and the atmosphere sounded worse than the last few seasons. Even when we were winning, it sounded quiet. The Northam Wall has totally backfired. The Northam was louder when it only had 3 blocks, and we have of course lost the Itchen North. [Post edited 25 Nov 12:27]

Walking up to the ground (you'll be surprised to know we were late) one of our lot actually commented on the fact that the liverpool fans sounded like they were still in the northam going by the noise. Even the various attempts at OWTS sounded half arsed on saturday and whilst it was loud straight after the goal it's mainly worse than it was before | | | | Login to get fewer ads

(5) - that dick song. WTF is wrong with people? It's awful, absolutely atrocious. How can other clubs actually come up with decent songs? I mean sure a lot are recycled but our lot just seem incapable of starting anything decent. Cock, pompey, OWTS, cock, pompey, pompey pompey, OWTS, some more cock. Jesus.

I'm genuinely considering moving the chapel next season so i don't have to listen to these people anymore. I swear a significant section of the northam wall would fail an entrance exam to red lodge ffs.

I enjoyed the middle of the Kingsland last season with the old farts moaning about Charles, Brooks and Rothwell! Good view - I actually watched the football properly.

5 Things About The Liverpool Game on 14:29 - Nov 25 with 1564 views | Number_58 | Most people round me thought the Tall Paul song was funny. And from my spot in the Northam the away fans are definitely quieter than they were last season. If and when Saints starting winning (big if) I reckon the atmosphere will be great in the Northam.

Yep, I thought the Northam were OK yesterday. I agree that the anti Pompey songs are pathetic but from where I'm sat in the middle of the Itchen, the home support is louder and the away fans sound alot quieter . Particularly when the whole Northam sang the song where they namecheck Mickey Channon, that sounded proper loud and it's a far better than the Onuachu one which us a bit wrap tbh. Surely we can come up with something better and a bit more tuneful than the current dreary one and maybe a line about his tallness rather than the size of his "member" Have to say though Tall Paul's performance was a definite bright spot along with Dibling and Fernandes. The majority of the home crowd have taken to him and it really lifted the atmosphere . You could sense almost the audible shock that wow this guy is actually a pretty decent player and although he had no goal attempts in his time on the pitch he can certainly control the ball and beat a player which goes against the many wise old men on here who have been telling us otherwise. Maybe he won't be a world beater but at the moment anything positive is worth gripping onto imo.

and therein lies the issue with the Northam, most people thought it was funny. I would personally be embarrassed to be singing about a players penis, but i guess i must just not get "banta"

Ironically the song that namechecked Mick Channon has some good lyrics, but it is a Liverpool song although copied by a few clubs, Saints are about 8 years too late to start singing it. The Scousers must have been p***ing themselves on Sunday at our plagiarism

5 Things About The Liverpool Game on 16:14 - Nov 25 with 1381 views | grumpy | Its not the Red Wall that has backfired its the manager. 12 games and just 1 win(1-0). What other fans would put up with this nonsense? Yet we are supposed to sound happy about it.
5 Things About The Liverpool Game on 16:26 - Nov 25 with 1366 views | cocklebreath | That was the quietest the Northam has been this season, I sit in block 3 and the atmosphere was terrible, one funny bit when tall Paul did his mazy run and loads included me jumped up with sheer joy at seeing a saints player do something different. Liverpool fans hardly sung 1st half, got going 2nd half. Had a dad with 2 boys about 8 and 10 in front, the boys were clearly Liverpool fans whilst the dad was a saints fan, how this is allowed to happen is beyond me, my kids were brainwashed from day 1.

Honestly mate, it wasn’t loud at all. Wish I could say otherwise. The Liverpool fans sounded a lot louder, and they sound 10 times louder on the telly with being stood nearer to the commentators. I refuse to sing that godawful song which mentions Channon. It’s a Scousers song and we embarrass ourselves completely by singing it. The atmosphere is miles worse with the new set-up. We are almost as quiet as Boscombe, which is as bad as you can get.

Its very difficult to understand how a working class town could possibly have a worse atmosphere than a nice town like Bournemouth who don't have a rich football history. I guess they are writing a new history for themselves these days and will continue to draw some of your younger fans away to their home games. [Post edited 25 Nov 16:59]

5 Things About The Liverpool Game on 18:17 - Nov 25 with 1133 views | UTS1885 | It was clearly pointed out to those that made the decision, the northam wall will not achieve what you think. The whole idea that because away fans were behind a goal, they somehow benefited was absolute garbage. Last season showed that with 15 home wins and many games with excess away fans present. Yesterday was the perfect time to help vocally and it failed again. The racist song about Onuachu was embarrassing. [Post edited 25 Nov 18:19]
