Swansea City put forward a project plan to play in the Welsh cup (part 2) on 09:12 - Jan 16 by RichardO | If Swansea city football team profit more often by their access to the European competition via the Welsh cup and give a cut to the FAW what would happen to the other money left over after the cut is taken out, surely it would be put towards the team giving us an unfair advantage over the other EFL teams who would not have the easier access to the European Cup competitions? If as a club we give all the monies to the FAW then it does not help us at all. Why were we exclude from access from via the Welsh cup previously? |
Manchester City go to Asian countries every year for tournaments and pick up £10m+. We say why not? good on them. If you can do it fill your boots. Swansea do not winge that it is unfair when they play an FA cup tie. We have to fight and compete not lie down and moan. Man City get invited to the Asian cup Swansea are not invited.is that not unfair? Eufa is inviting our poor nation to Europe. [Post edited 16 Jan 13:00]

Great point. Other than the fact that Man City are highly unlikely to be asked to leave the EFL.

People in the know think it is highly unlikely that the Welsh four will be asked to leave. People in the know say the Welsh FA will not lose their status from Team GB. I have to be consistent and be sceptical about BOTH issues. Both ars anomalous that the authorities seem able to live with.

And there is the big issue, when it's team GB nationalists are dead against it in case Wales loses out. Those same people are all for this but what if Swansea City loses out? As I said, I can only support this if guarantees are given over our EFL status, if there is any doubt at all we should bin this idea and quickly. The EFL has already raised concerns with the FA.

So not everybody is 100% onside then and the EFL have several concerns. OK then, rather than put peoples noses out unecessarily lets just bin this. It seems like other EFL clubs don't like it it and the last thing we need is a groundswell of opinion that Welsh clubs should be sent to the loW to play full time. If that did happen mind, it would totally kill any hopes Rangers or Celtic had of being in the EPL.

I d not see why the English should be upset. Eufa seem to have given the green light and with a few protection around PSR there is nothing for them to worry about. Arab Government ownership is not a problem for them why should this?. Next week it will forgotten. Welsh clubs have always played in the English leagues. The views of English fans are irrelevant. The EPL and EFL are the views that count. The big English clubs play in foreign cups and Swnsea are not invited. Swnsea can play in the Welsh cup on the same basis. Qualification for Europe is not a matter for the EFL other than to notionally provide a level playing field. In the EPL there is no fairness visible as seen with Man city's 135 charges.

Well there's an argument with a massive hole right down the middle of it. What Man City do in pre season tours is their business just as where the Swans go for pre season tours is our business. If't only the authorities concern if Man City wanted to play in another countries sanctioned competition, such as when clubs talked about forming a Euro super league AND you say the views of English fans is irrelevant, well no it;s not, nit unless the views of ALL fans is irrelevant and you think that then.....I'll stop there but it could have gotten rude Now Arab ownership, just what the heck does that have to do with this?

It's so obvious. The EFL and FA are not convinced and the Cymru League clubs haven't been given all the facts to form an opinion. Are the four Welsh clubs alienating themselves from everyone.

The thing is, if I were any of the other EFL clubs after reading that, I’d say go ahead, there’s nothing in it for you and you’ve got to play more games increasing workload and chances of injuries. It’s to all the other clubs’ advantage. Which is one reason I’m 100% against it. THERES NOTHING IN IT FIR US apart from the aforementioned and a whole lot of grief from fellow members of the EFL.

You believe in assimilation and going to the back of the queue. I do not. Perhaps you blieve we are no different to Bristol Rovers I do not accept this. Some myths have been posted on her that a club like Swnsea woud not be allowed to make good money. This is what Coleman said. "Importantly, it ensures no financial advantage for Welsh-based EFL clubs regarding PSR. This is about improving football in Wales with good intentions." I suggested a few days ago the financial advantage related to the PSR regulations. Coleman has now confirmed it. What is in it for us? Euros and a lot of them. Reject fear.

"Importantly, it ensures no financial advantage for Welsh-based EFL clubs regarding PSR. This is about improving football in Wales with good intentions." Read your own post, the team will not benefit financially from this. You didn't suggest it, it has always been there, it was in the original information. So, what is in it for us? Some money that can only be spent on infrastructure and how much depends on how well we do. I don't think most of us expect to do very well so not very much money.

You understanding is consistently poor. You are wrong on this . It appears I may have been r wrong on the EFL Food a approval. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/jan/17/blow-for-wrexham-as-fa-to-block The English will try and stop Welsh development while letting Arabs do what the like.
