No doubt crap beer too. I had a hospital appointment at St Mary's Paddington today so as always had a few pints before turning up. Was in the Mad Bishop & Bear. Pint of Pride £4.75. I learned it's 20% off Mondays - I'll go there again. Good scran too.

I hear you but you can shop around in central London. Matchday you're locked in with no other options. Personally I reckon the club are missing a trick. Tie in with a local craft brewer offering pints at 5-6 pounds.

Maybe the only solution is to sit in a park with your mates with your beverage of choice in the local playing fields....
70s and 80s was a flask and a packed lunch and a few tinnies.
These days will come back if prices keep on their very upward slope
Remember seeing during lockdown walks with my much superior better half, loads of blokes huddled in the pouring rain hiding out of sight with their cans to recreate the pub environment when such things were illegal !!!!!

It's the wages. How much would you expect to earn to make it worth your while to sell beer for about 1 1/2 hours , on a weekend, once a fortnight? People have to be paid over the odds to do it.

A decade or so ago when I had a ST the people in front of me could not go more than 30 mins without a beer. Would turn up 5 mins after kick off as they had to get that last one in. Would get up 20 mins later for a pi55 before coming back. Then would get up 5 mins before half time to get a beer. Would turn up 5 mins after second half had started then 20 mins later off to the loo again. At least they stayed until the final whistle but at the point the talk was of getting down the pub ASAP. It was like this every home game.
Can people not go a couple of hours without a beer??
Maybe the price hike is some clandestine way of getting people off alcohol.

Indeed, coffee does seem to have become the new black gold. Mind you, I love a decent coffee and on that subject - gasp - I had a very positive experience recently.
Unable to play table tennis at our usual venue, my mates and I went to a local park (in Bracknell where I live) which has outside table tennis tables. There was a cafe at the park and they served coffee, in proper ceramic mugs, for - wait for it - £1.40! It was perfectly pleasant coffee too.
I think the cafe may be subsidised by the local council, but I felt proud of our country in that moment. Here was a beautiful park with lots of sporting facilities, some of them free, plus reasonably priced refreshments. I don't know who said it but a good measure of a country is the state of its public services and public places. Of course, there are plenty of examples of our public services and public places needing improvements - and I'm not going to start a debate on that - but credit where credit is due, things aren't all bad.

i was in the ground saturday mike but i did'nt buy a bottle of their warm piss, so i don't know what the prices were. it does'nt look as anyone on here did either, because no one has answered the op.

When have venues ever not been rip-off prices? All my life getting food/drink in any venue is well more expensive than going outside.
I still don't understand why anyone buys anything in football grounds to be quite frank, apart from maybe away fans who don't know the area they are in, but even in this smartphone era that's quite easy to plan around. Nearby supermarkets or pre-packed lunch all the way for me and have been for years.

I’ve had their ‘Star’ best bitter (malt aroma, biscuit notes, dried apple skin) and ‘Market Porter’ (malt foundation, moderate roastiness, smoked Toblerone).
