Departures in the development squad on 15:23 - May 31 by Juzzie | Totally understand the whole speculation aspect but does every single lower level arrival and departure have to be ‘announced’? Modern times I guess. |
Well now's the time of the year to do it as there is very little QPR news around. I appreciate the extra info, and the departure ones show some respect to the players concerned.

Departures in the development squad on 15:54 - May 31 with 4597 views | bosh67 | It feels like we are trying to retain players like Koli etc and these new kids that Marti genuinely thinks can knock on the door of the 1st team within 2 seasons. Anyone that can't seems to be being released. I suspect they want to have a core of 6-8 really good prospects beyond the first squad and play players that are in the squad but not necessarily week in week out alongside them in the development squad so that the development squad genuinely is a feeding ground and fitness ground for the first team squad. Or is that logic far too sensible? Or not...

Departures in the development squad on 15:25 - May 31 by lassel | As with others, he seemed one the club were quite fond of yet at the same time he is 20 now and undoubtedly we will be looking to sign at least 2 strikers this summer so realistically it’s more sensible to let him go and see if he can cut it elsewhere. |
Last few days, Keiran Petrie and Lorent Talla have signed new contracts. I believe Dev Squad should have plenty of attacking options for 24/25. Might need an extra RB.

I think we'll need a few more than just an RB. That may depend on whether there's any more coming up from the 18s but at the moment I make it just 15 players in the Dev Squad.

Would hope that quite a few step up from the 18s who are a better crop. We've had quite an old U23s/EDS for some time, so important to bring that average age down.
Departures in the development squad on 17:52 - Jun 4 with 2973 views | DavieQPR | We seem to be ignoring Academy and picking up released youngster for Development Squad. Hence the departures from backroom teams. What we should have been doing years ago.

Well not quite. Sam Manufor and Conor Clark were recently announced as moving up from the U18s to the Dev squad. Last season Jake Leahy and Alfie Tuck gradually made their way up too.
Departures in the development squad on 18:43 - Jun 4 with 2797 views | Welsh_Ranger | I think as has been mentioned it should be a cohesion of both - promote the most talented U18's while scouring talent that has been let go from other academies whilst lowering the age group for the development phase. Some might call it streamlining as we have carried too many players that aren't going to make it or you could call it creating a genuine pathway into the first team for the most talented.

You make a great point. Some say we should do the Academy; others say pick up the throwaways from the Prem. I say we should do both. We need the Academy to make it harder to steal our talent and attract the ones that get pushed out from the Prem and other leagues. This way, you may not stay in once you're in, as someone may come along from the outside and be better than you. So, as a player, you have to really go for it all the time. It's harsh, but that's the evil nature of it in reality.

Lacking in existential angst, perhaps? If someone had accused Mad Mark Denis of having an "Inquisitive mind" he would have nutted them. If Nourry is big on "strong human qualities" I wonder how he would describe Taylor Richards? An advance on 'arry's usual refrain, at least: "triffic lad.." Question from me as someone who doesn't much follow the development and -18s. All these youngsters coming in, are they likely to play a full season is in the development squad or sent out on loan? And in an ideal world how quickly might they make the step up? I ask because keeping in mind that Armstrong is (I think) only 20 but has been in and around the first team squad for a year, and I believe some of these players we are bringing in are around 18-19. So not that far behind age-wise, and we have already learned that we can't keep regarding 22-year-olds as "prospects". In other words they make the cut fairly quickly or we need to be brutal (which we are being now judging by all the departures). Am happy to leave this to better qualified people than me. My one hope is we don't see lots of loans to Accrington Stanley and the like. Surely if that is all that is on offer they should either train with us or be released? But might be missing something...

Eze, Chair, Dieng, Manning all came in this way. Meanwhile the 'been with us since a nipper' route has yielded Furlong and Kakay
