Would you try and get him back for next season if it was possible? For me it might be worth a bid.

I would, 100%
Martin won’t.
Which is why we need a new manager before the transfer window opens.

He has pace which we are desprate for but im not sure he showed enough in his limited appearances. Watching the Coventry game was painful play great football with no out ball or a player who will take on a player, Ntcham was the only player taking it on the turn and driving forward. Looking from above the space we create on the flanks is wasted..

Martin will be here next season, at the start at least, I just don't think that the Owners have the desire to change the manager.

The biggest worry is the loss of the spine of the team with players of value leaving and those players out of contract, its clear that we need to freshen the squad and add pace, but to do that and also have to replace players who leave, looks a tall order without said owners splashing out.

This, all day.

I'm not bothered about having him back, I know he's young, but he often lacked game discipline, I'm all for players with flare and being allowed to express themselves, but not ones who leave spaces behind them in doing so, he's young though and he's talented, but he needs to balance his play and become a team player.

Wasn't used by Martin first time around, no real point in having him back.
Wingers or players with a direct style and pace won't get a look in down here until Martin changes his "plan" or Martin is gone.

Player of his ilk but not him.

I reserve total judgement on the summer until we get clarification on this boardroom change that might be on the horizon.

Oko-Flex left spaces behind him as a negative? So does Manning often needing covering which is expected given what is being asked of him.
Nice to see against Coventry,' Paterson's workrate to cover Manning to preventing a cross in the corner.
So if Manning leaves does that mean using Ogbeta next season, after his loan spell, as fullback.

The loan market is very well used by Russell Martin identifying players who need game time in league one and below. It became clear Garrick wasn’t cut out for the championship but Cooper and Whittaker thrived, Cullen developed and the benefits are there for all to see. In Whittaker’s case he will move on this seasons end. He is being kept fit and involved and doesn’t offer what Cooper, Ntcham or Cullen do in a changing formation.

Ogbeta is a revelation for Peterborough this season. Fifteen appearances, a whoscored rating of 7.22 overall with nearly 85% pass rate success. He makes forty passes a game. Three assists and one goal. This will do wonders for his development and confidence.

There may well be a player in there come the summer.

Watching him he is an amazing talent , the chances of west ham sending us any talent again is zero.
He was quick , skillful, a fantastic individual player.
Next season when he is in the championship He will score against us I got a mad feeling about that.

Happy for players to go out on loan if they have "better" players keeping them out of the team but not so happy if loan players in, are restricting our players opportunities, I appreciate a good loan signing can make a big impact on a team but too many can be disruptive.
Having too many over a number of years has meant the strength in the first team squad is sadly diminished. Hopefully there seems to be a number of youngsters playing at u21s and u18s.
Seeing as we have one of the youngest first teams in the division it might mean Martin has been reluctant to risk using too many more whether it be from our under age Teams/Academy or the Premiership.

Isn't that something we've regularly done anyway? It doesn't seem to have differed much from as far back as our premier league days.
The Whittaker situation is a bit disappointing, he clearly has talent and had been doing well on loan. Was only brought back to be sold and it fell through.
I'd liked Ogbeta when we signed him, would be good to see him get on a pitch for us, could be a perfect replacement for Manning.

The question of development of players is a bit tricky and it is good that players like Cullen, and Cooper who went away for development and have made the squad stronger.

Whittaker was brought back from his development to keep forward options open for the squad and to replace Obefemi because of his lack of willingness to fight for his position within the team given his mindset in wanting away.

Ogbeta was sent for development because the thinking was we had suitable cover for Manning with many number of players able to fill in(Latibeaudie, Sorinola, an ageing Naughton or any of three inexperienced young CB Cabango, Darling and Woods) which has clearly been shown not to be the case. So even if Manning does not leave in the summer we still need at the very least is cover for him when games come thick and fast and Ogbeta is a must to return to the first team squad next year.

Ntcham has a lot more experience than those four and yet has struggled with his development and to have a regular starting place for two seasons, it would seem that a major part of his development now is mainly due team setup, reverting to a stable back four seems have helped him as it did when we played it earlier in the season.
There are issues of development that will need addressing so players the likes of Armstrong Oko-Flex can progress and make the squad stronger, it should be noted that development isn't only confined to the players.

Ntcham is EPL class , full international and one of our older heads in the squad. Would you write that about matt grimes that he is developing. Ntchams peak will be in the next season or two. What a rolls Royce of a player...

Agree

Ntcham is our most talented player by a country mile, should have been the 1st name on Martins team sheet all season & we probably wouldn’t have wasted it.

With regards to Ntcham "development" it was in regard to his time here not his quality and I already covered his greater experience and that the issues he has had is down to the setup of the team but you could say that about the squads performance in general including Grimes,.
Hopefully now with the youngsters within the back four seemingly able to play to a better standard it allows others including Ntcham and Grimes to show their better quality.
We had reached a standard earlier in the season but with an injury to Manning and coming up against the excellent Burnley, Martin threw away all those gains and reverted to a back three let's hope he can now push on until the end the season.

Swansea s lack of pace can cost the club points. 0-2 v Wigan Swansea got fast break as Wigan pushed men forward.

Cullen had 2 yards on his defender but was too weak and too slow. He could have left him for dead an or engineered a red card. Instead he cut back and did an a cute 'dink ball' to Cooper.

Cooper panicked and instead of collecting it and composing himself instead did a 'limp back pass' header to the keeper.

3:41 mins.

Both young players who have a lot of work to do to nail these opportunities. Cullen need gym work and sprinting training while Cooper needs to work on composure and finishing.
