Anyone else think saving cats and dogs is more important than saving human beings ?

Bizarre and tragic few days in truly awful conditions.

Need to prioritise though surely.

I dont believe anyone was left behind, purely for Farthing and his animals. It was a private rescue mission. There are some politicians and top brass panicking regarding the fallout from this. If there are still interpreters and families left in the country then the blame is certainly not on 200 animals stored in the hold of a private plane.
My heart goes out to the soldiers holding the line over the last 10days or so, the things they must have seen and the emotions they must feel, shocking. I'm not particularly religious but pray to God they all get out safely.

I agree it’s only theoretical and we’ll never know if this came at any human cost.

However, I do think that the time used on this could have been better spent. Ministerial time. Parliament time. Civil servant time. Paratrooper time. Media coverage time.

All of this could have been used to save women and children.

As for the vehicles; it depends. If they were military vehicles and if left could have been used by the Taliban then yes, I’d have taken them before the animals too.

Didn't you know, the Taliban are our partners now, apparently.

Mr Tugendhat, who served in Afghanistan, revealed how his former interpreter, who is now stuck in Kabul, asked him: ‘Why is my five-year-old worth less than your dog?

‘I didn’t have an answer,’ he says.

Unbelievable! so nothing to do with US and it's allies telling them lies, giving them false hope and then turning their backs on the people that served them. If they "really" wanted these people safe they should have and could have been evacuating these people months and months ago at a steady pace instead of the 11th hour and to say the Taliban took them by surprise is complete b*llshit!

That's like waking up on Christmas Day saying I never knew Christmas was coming.

Another quote for you from Mr Tugendhat (who left the Army over 8 years ago) who was most probably sat in the comfort of his leafy Surrey home

Mr Tugendhat — described the situation as “the sun setting over some really pretty terrible decisions by the West over a number of years”.

So not really Pen's fault

By that measure, Biden isn’t to blame for anything and he’s just unfortunate in picking up poor decisions over a number of years.

Didn't say he was and If you think Biden calls the shots then you are mislead like most Americans are.

America is and always be a machine no matter who's in power you would have thought they would have learned lessons like Vietnam which ironically was 20 yrs of bloodshed with Russia peaking over the wall again.

I've been luckily enough to travel a lot around the world and actually 99.9% of people are people just like all of us and it's the tiny tiny percentage who don't want you do think that way.

This unstructured withdrawal was Bidens doing, he had the final say. If he knew months ago he was going to do this then I entirely agree with the previous opinions that he should have been helping those who helped his country and not leaving them for the enemy. No matter what is said, the Taliban are the enemy.

It seems to me Biden has said if they're not actually US citizens then sod them. The troops left to deal with it have done their best but they've been screwed over as well.

There is more going on here than we know about, than we will ever know about but what we do know is pretty distasteful.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Another aspect I don't understand - why would workers at an animal rescue charity be eligible for evacuation? Surely it should be reserved for those who helped the British military.

Anyway, the full story is beginning to reveal itself in newspapers today and proves my feelings earlier in the week correct.

Good old Pen did threaten anyone who.put human lives before his cats and dogs , with typical animal right threats and bullying.

I am amazed how many people prefer to save cats and dogs ahead of humans ( I own a dog who I walk twice a day and he has treats to ).

If an animal can survive in a 'hold' then a human can.

A sponsored flight, if this can be done for animals then why not humans. Are people putting animals before humans ?

Where does this lunacy end.

He said armed forces personnel "willingly and voluntarily" helped Mr Farthing load the animals' crates on to the aircraft in Kabul, but extra passengers were not found.

Mr Dyer claimed an appeal was put in to the British Government "to see if we could fill seats with refugees within the airport". "They told us there was no one they could find that could actually fill that aircraft.

"In fact, they had more air capacity than they had people, which probably tells you an awful lot about the final days of the withdrawal from Afghanistan." He added that "all efforts were made to do what we could" but it was "not possible to find anyone", with Mr Farthing loading the animals and leaving "on his own".

They probably willingly volunteered because they knew a lot of the dogs and cats belonged to serving servicemen and women, awaiting adoption and transportation to the UK.

Isn't the reality there that plenty of people were trying to get into the airport to get onto flights but that they couldn't 'process' the people fast enough so many, many people got left behind.
Otherwise why have I seen on the tv, people who used to work for UK/USA armed forces who are left behind and in fear for they and their families lives?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Aren't the media great, there is no way a top aides personal interpreter has been left behind because of Farthing as quoted in a few of the dailies. If they are left behind then said aide needs his arse kicked and not be allowed to deflect any blame.

That could easily be true, some people will use Farthing as a scapegoat to cover up their uselessness.

Wait for the book, film, breakfast tv
The charity
When you give once they will come calling again and again, usually targetting the gullible and the old.
Free will writing- no kids, yippe, why not give it all to charity.
The old have more money, so will sign up for ever increasing direct debits and the raffle tickets buy 2 this year, 6 next...and so on.
I foresee another scam ( allegedly).

Cats and dogs can survive in conditions humans can't by all accounts. Afghans so desperate they will hang onto
the outside of a plane but not allowed a space inside a plane.
