Accusing me of trying to justify or discredit George Floyds death is what is disgusting .Nobody is more outraged and sickened by the way his life ended than me and anybody with an ounce of empathy would feel the same . I was quoting the official autopsy findings and letting everybody know that those barbaric arrest tactics are legal in Minnesota .The Cop treated the victim like he was below human and he will stand trial but its notoriously hard to convict cops in America even with hard evidence .They will argue he did not mean to kill Mr Floyd and if the arrest is deemed legal your guess is as good as mine what happens then. We need to remember that left and right as we know it came about with the French revolutionary parliament in the late 1700s. The radicals (Jacobins) sat on the left of the speaker and the conservatives (Girondists) sat on the right. Parties of the right generally seek gradual or no change whilst the left seek to remake society in one shape or another. One of the great misconceptions in our media is that Fascist ideologies are from the right. Hitler and Mussolini were socialists not conservatives and the term Nazi is an acronym for the National SOCIALIST German Workers Party (NSDAP). The conservatives during the Fascist era of the 30s were the politicians of the Weimar republic who opposed Hitler.
The current violence in the USA is terrible to see and however angry people are (rightly or wrongly), violence is never the answer to anything. We have forgotten the wisdom of Martin Luther King and Gandhi who taught us that right is might and that non-violent protest carries a greater moral power than throwing stones at Police.
We should also all of us remember that although we cover a wide range of topics on this message board, we are all only here because we all have something in common - we all follow a funny little football club called Queen's Park Rangers. What I love about this site is that it's my first stop when I want to learn about anything from cycling to politics. I hope that never changes. It's invaulable.
