I don't think you get it. It stopped being about Cummings days ago.
It became about Boris and his willingness to risk a diluted public health message, just to save Cummings. Not only does he now seem reckless about public health but it has a revealed that he is prepared to lie and say that 'black is white' to suit himself, which has fundamentally undermined the public's fragile trust in him.
I also have a feeling that they have announced the latest relaxation of lockdown earlier than is sensible just to move the focus to something else. If, as Valance says, the R rate is only just below 1, it won't take very much at all for it to go above 1 again, and the cases will increase. Meantime the 'world beating' track and trace system is also being launched when it's still at the steampunk phase.
Boris needs a bit of luck and we all need a bit of luck to get through this despite him. Fingers crossed that this won't be another disappointment. [Post edited 29 May 2020 14:46]

Truth is there was only ever a small percentage of people who really cared about leaving the EU. Those people managed to control the agenda, forced everyone else to start thinking about it and managed to get a small majority to agree with them. People were then so stirred up into thinking that their democratic rights were being violated that they voted for Boris.
Actually, most people really don't care about the EU, leaving it or otherwise and now that they have got two real problems to think about in the form of a global pandemic and a massive economic recession, they are going to realise that again pretty quickly. And that they have been sold two pups in the meantime. | |

I've just done a quick call round my friends and family and EVERY SINGLE ONE of them said they won't be voting Tory next time.
