Falling Out Of Love.. 16:46 - Jan 30 with 9333 viewsJJB

I really don't give much of a shit these days about QPR.

I have been going since I was 13, I am now 47 but the last few years has finally taken its toll, I fear.

Maybe I’m just getting old, maybe the fact I have pants older then Jack Clarke and maybe the fact that the owners talk constant crap about progression when there isn’t any and players repeating the shame old lines defeat after defeat plus I have read on various QPR message boards people pulling their hair out over the fact that Wells has left, I don't care. Now I read the BFG is going, I really don't care , are we going to sort the defence out? I’m past giving a shit.

Don’t get me wrong, I will always love this mad mental club of ours, I love the bush and meeting up with pals on the matchdays I now decide to attend but the boards massive lack of aspiration and ambition is finally taken it’s toll and I feel I might not be alone in feeling like this, tell me it’s not just me!?! Is it!?!?

I think Friday night kinda summed it up , if the club don’t give a fxxk then why should we? Ok, it’s the FA cup I hear you say but I don’t see any ambition in the league either, is staying up really the stuff that makes people go to games and spend their hard earned cash?

I’m sure many of you will be thinking piss off and support Fulham then but that’s just daft, I just think I’m falling out of love with the modern game and the crap that comes with it like twitter, sky sports and foolish post on football forums, a bit like this one I guess..

Rant over and oh, come on you R’s.

Thanks for all the replies folks, guess it’s just not me after all.

I’m kidding myself when I say I don’t give a shit, I do, I think we all do really as I care massively about our club and what happens to it on and off the pitch a lot, but then I go through real waves of being totally resigned to the fact the game has changed and that I have changed as a person, I have got old and I see it now for what is but back in the day when I used to see the likes of Alan McDonald walking down the SAR road on a matchday I used to think he wasn’t a man but some kind of demigod , I now see these kids rocking up on a matchday with their headphones on and I think to myself silly tw*ts.

The mystic has been taken out of the game too, I remember waking up in the morning and reading in the paper that we have signed somebody or sold somebody, I’m still getting over reading that John Byrne had left for Le Harve, now it’s all over twitter that a player is in talks or a player is running down his contract and the 24 hour attention of breaking news in football has taken something away from the experience, everything changes I guess but that doesn’t mean I have to like it, nostalgia isn’t what it used to be and in the words of Morrisey “ Nothing's changed , I still love you, oh, I still love you , Only slightly, only slightly less than I used to, my love..

Long time reader, first time poster and all that...

It's an age thing. The older we get the most interests we develop and the less important things that were paramount to us as children become.

When I first started going, and up to my early 20s I could tell you every result from my time following the club and about every player. i would also be quite p***ed off/angry if we lost. I then met my now ex-wife and I wanted to spend time with her so I lost a bit of interest and only started to go sporadically.

When I did go back more often it was a chance to get away from the wife - the old and the new one - and have a few beers. I still want us to win or play attractive football - preferably both - but I'm not going to lose sleep if we don't.

I see men of my age, 42, and older reacting as if their dog has died or their Mum has been insulted when we lose and I think 'thank f**k I'm not like that anymore'. Surely by that age they shouldn't be too bothered about the fortunes of 11 men on a pitch wearing a QPR kit to the extent that it gets them so worked up?

I look at some of our more 'famous' fans who are without doubt club legends for the years they have been supporting us and how many games they've seen but a part of me does think that they have missed out on so many other things in life because of QPR and i'm glad that I discovered such diversions.

I do get what the OP means.

Myself, being in scouseland on a limited budget only get to see the boys when they play ooooo north, and even then, not every time. Granted i missed Blackburn for the first time in years, but i was ill, and not getting younger it takes more time to get better so an evening in the gods on a cold night wasnt helpful.

My love for the team hasnt diminished, but my love for the game has. I feel that i will be long dead before anyone sees real progress on anything within QPR...... New ground? W.F.? (wasnt that supposed to allow us to keep younger players?) a competing team (no not competing to become mediocre mid table every year)

Sky has ruined it all so such an extent i assume its a Saturday 3pm kick off and dont bother checking if its not, and have missed games, and first halfs for not really being arsed.

I hate being so bloody ambivalent on this all nowadays.

still love a victory, and hate a defeat, but havnt been to HQ for 17 years now due to costs and miss the 'good old days' very much but its beyond my means.

A ramble i know, but thats how i feel, although i'm sure i could have said it better here.

For me the most despondent I felt about QPR was when JFH was in charge. It felt to me the club was particularly lost.

Over the last few seasons we've slowly started to put into place a strategy and have found a manager that seems to be the happy medium between Holloway and McClaren.

I know it keeps being said but we have to be patient! This was meant to be the hardest season for us and it's actually been one of the most exciting in recent times.

There is hope for the future and players coming and going will always be part of that and football in general.

The acceptance of the "dark arts". Dark arts???? It's Fcuking cheating and cheating has no place in sport (or anywhere else). The same players get away with it time and time again, it's beyond a joke.

Booked Forest , Preston and Boro trains this week

For me it's always been about the day out with my mates and the football is just an excuse to go . Win , lose or draw we still have a good time .

I'm actually more optimistic about the future now than I have been for a few seasons . We actually didn't go out and waste 4 million on a player because the people on Twitter were going nuts that is massive progress

The club are finally making decisions that are beneficial for the club rather than trying to be popular and we are playing decent football with a team of young players and free transfers

I can see why people are frustrated and annoyed and so am I , brought up on top london club finsihes regularly beating Chelsea , Arsenal and Spurs etc and it's frustrating how far we've fallen but I can see green shoots of recovery and whilst a lot of clubs are losing their heads and gambling wildly we should be in a good place to capitalise in the summer and pick up some bargains and progress whilst others crumble under FFP

Keep the faith

Whatever the season......

Yeah, but it’s fun to get angry at when it happens to you and fun to take the piss out of the opposition when it happens to them right?
