Hopefully more successful than the original one...

Underwhelming performance, but the two goals on the GD are probably about par, and it looks like most of the other results have gone pretty well for us.

Thank god this didn’t go the way it might have.

Indeed.

Tammy could easily have been on the scoresheet were it not for two wonder saves. At 2-1 who knows.

Fortunately for our goal difference, they were extremely wasteful in both halves.

If he starts the West Brom match with the same set up as we started the second half today we may actually score a goal.

Rubbish for an hour but did play with some more effort for last half hour and could have got a goal. Not too much damage from the rest of the results. Still very much in our hands and should be OK if the players can be arsed and am hoping they will be.

And I believe we will.

Today was that shot to nothing game and to lose only 2-0 having conceded twice within 20 mins is ok. GD not dented too much.

Other results couldn't have gone much better and if Arsenal perform as they should tomorrow then it will be a nigh on perfect.

We didn't expect much more today in reality did we?

TBH Man U were good in the first hour, and they were gifted two goals, but not the game to judge us

I think the team will be up for it in the rest of the games bar Man C, so still think we will be OK. It's going to be tight though.

This 2nd half performance shouldn't detract from the fact that we waited until 2-0 down and 45 minutes had passed before putting an eleven out with instructions and tactics capable of enabling us to actually create some chances ourselves.

Or, the 2nd half performance was testament to CC's and the team's unerring mindset and tactics

Yes and only West Ham and Newcastle picked up any points.
So not to bad the next 2 games are massive though.

I think most would have expcted a result along those lines.
What wasn't expected was a very poor first half where we could have conceded more and a second half where we could have shaded it.
No getting away with it the first half was worrying but the second was a confidence builder.
It's in our hands but injuries could be our undoing still.
Starting to look like 35 points will do it.

Indeed.
We could have thrown caution to the wind and ended up getting hammered, ruining our goal difference in the process.
Instead we tried (unsuccesfully) to inch our way back into the game and not only avoided conceding any further goals, but could have scored ourselves.

Winners don't go 2-0 down at half time and see the game finish at 2-0. Those are losers. Manchester United and Jose Mourinho were the winners today.

If you start with a midfield three with the turning circle of the Titanic and the inertia of a medicine ball then you can only expect to be totally outplayed by a mobile United team at Old Trafford. The fact that Carvalhal clearly rates King is a very worrying sign - especially playing alongside the eager but limited Clucas and able but ponderous Ki.

On a positive note Carroll was terrific when he came on (apart from the odd powder puff tackle) - probably the best he's played since the victory at Anfield last season.

Agree, Tom put Ki completely to shame.
I don't think we will get a decent game out of Ki for the rest of the season.
He will be dreaming about moves and World Cup games.

Just looked at the stats.
The one that stood out was the treatments.

We had 8 were there any bad injuries then.

They don't - Dwight's downarrow cancelled it out. The massive plum.
