Joey Allen 18:38 - Oct 6 with 16292 views | Jack1 | Of all our transfer f**k-ups in recent years, not re-signing JA has to be up there with the biggest of them all. I'll admit that I've not been quick enough on the uptake of this, but since the inflated transfer fees in the premier league occurred, the short-sightedness of the board (knowing that the new tv would come into effect) is staggering. £13m is an absolute steal. Why didn't they see that this would have been a great deal when they knew the tv deal was coming into effect? I know that this is stating the obvious to many on here, but, I'm genuinely stunned by our boards short-sightedness. [Post edited 6 Oct 2017 18:45]

Agree totally. It was obviously a monumental cock up, but it was well over a year ago. I was as pissed off as anyone at the time, but moaning about it every time he has a good game is getting old. Clement would likely have stifled his game anyway.

If we moaned every time he had a good game there would be a thread at least once a week

Joey Allen on 21:08 - Oct 6 by dameedna | There would have been a few on here arguing not to bring him back. Arguing that 15 million was too high. However I believe Allan was preservung his Liverpool salary and we had Siggy Gomis as high earners and much lower funds than Stoke. The lower offer was due to salary. Not a big coc up just went to who offered the most and a more solid club. Good luck to him but not Stoke hope they get regulated. |
lol - totally bang on : esp the bit about Stoke being regulated, they got away with it far too long

Let’s not go over the top. Yes, he would walk into our team and of course we should have signed him if £10m would have done the trick. He’s not Pele though and if he had good games every week he wouldn’t be at Stoke or Swansea.

Plays a game which not many appreciate in this country (British football). The majority of Liverpool fans would still like him to be there. Stoke was a very poor move for him though. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Not sure about that mate. I don't think the majority of Liverpool fans think for one second that he is good enough for their inflated opinions, nor give two f*cks about him.

It was indeed, though I’m not sure playing under Bob then Clement would have been great for him either.

He creates space and demands the ball. I don't think Clement could f*ck that up. Then again so does Mesa and he can't get a game so maybe he can. I would love to have Allen fetching and carrying for us now.

He doesn’t stick rigidly to his position (as he absolutely shouldn’t), he goes looking for the ball and tries to make things happen. As crazy as it sounds, I’m not convinced Clement would start him.

A very underrated footballer. 15 million (or whatever Stoke ( fuking Stoke) paid was a steal even before this seasons inflated transfer market
Joey Allen on 22:13 - Oct 6 with 2055 views | ZZoric | .........the possibilities that we can muster a CM with the same qualities that Allen has - all forged at scfc - a potent blend of Leon/Ferrie/Pratley its our heritage - the swansea way is founded on the strength of our midfield "edge" Allen is the epitome of our edge
Joey Allen on 22:39 - Oct 6 with 2020 views | majorraglan | He is a quality player and would have fitted in like a hand in a glove. I can see why HJ would try to sign him on the cheap, we all like to grab a bargain, but if it was apparent what Liverpool wanted and they weren't shifting he should have stumped up the readies. Liverpool have shown they are no pushovers and won't be bullied when it comes to transfer business. Anyway, the deed is done and the dye is cast. I reckon it would cost north of £25m to sign Joe Allen which I can't ever see Swansea City paying. In my opinion, the only way Joe Allen will re-sign is on a Bosman after running his contract down if the club is still Premier League, if it isn't PL them it will be in the twilight of his career.

Not word for word but had a text from a 'proper' scouse Liverpool fan (season ticket holder) who's a long standing friend that went along the lines of "So Joe Allen makes his 100th appearance for LFC today, and i cannot for the life of me think where he had an influence on the game in any one of them!" So ye, i guess he's not pined after! In saying that, there were many on here that rejoiced that we didn't sign him for £13m myself included, even 'sane' people like Dr Winston! I stand by that at the time, but the fact we didn't sign him for £8m before the Euros was a fvcking shocking decision from someone who earns £500k a year to look after the best interests of our club.

Good question for the Ceredigion jacks. "You take (not earn) £500K a year out of our club, supposedly to look after it, and failed to sign Joe Allen for 8 million when everyone bar you could see it was a steal. Can you explain why?" The 'you c**t' is optional.

Yet ANOTHER MAJOR HJ gaffe..... We could have signed Joe for £8M early last summer and could have sold Ki for £8M to Stoke and balanced the books....but IT NEVER HAPPENED ... .FACT. Yet we (sorry HJ that is) decides that Joe is not worth £8M and despite Joe & his family WANTING TO COME HOME we let it go and he goes on to have a great Euros where his price goes up to £12M, HJ says we'll give you £10M & then Joey phuks off to Stoke (yes Stoke I said) for £12M .... If you need yet ANOTHER example of how inept and absolutely Phuking useless our self styled 'Director of Football' (aka a former local league goalkeeper) and Bankrupt ex Caseys owner is the this is it ...... Joey Allen on 23:21 - Oct 6 with 1959 views | Jack1 | The reason I started this thread was partly because of his performance tonight and partly because of what he could bring to our team. I remember reading on here a couple of years ago that £13m (in the opinion of some people) was too much for a player like him. Fast forward to now, and £13m is not that much with the new PL TV Deal money that clubs have. My main point was that clubs knew this TV Deal was taking place. My issue is that why didn't we forecast this and spend the money? Granted, having the power of hindsight is a wonderful thing, but surely, being in a position where having millions of pounds at your disposal PLUS a little bit of forward thinking, we should be in a better place than we are at now. My main question's are, why couldn't anyone spot this? And If they did, why didn't they act on it?

Anyone who knew Huw Jenkins years ago would know that his nickname was 'Mugsy'. Nicknames traditionally are shortened versions of your actual name ie: David/Dai James/Jam Malcolm/Mal etc. Why on earth would someone named Huw Jenkins have a nickname of 'Mugsy'? Answers on a postcard!

Brilliant post. Many of us stated that £13m was to much for him. But we are posters on a messageboard. Not someone who is paid half a million pounds a year to project future income and increases in transfer fees. Our chairman has become an utter fvcking joke. Resigning his position should be the first step he takes before apologising to the fans for being an utter tvvat, then publicly binning his OBE!
