N Korea sends missile over Japan 07:31 - Aug 29 with 34162 views | Valerie | I really think it's only time now before we see a nuclear strike on N Korea. The latest developments that sent the warning sirens off in the North of Japan are a major escalation in the conflict brought on by NK but some will still blame Trump when the inevitable does happen.

N Korea sends missile over Japan on 11:46 - Sep 3 by monmouth | Socialism in its true state? F*ck my old boots. A family dictatorship that puts any whole family they fancy into concentration camps and insists on widespread torture by privileged sadists, whilst spending all their money on arms to keep the privileged few in power and luxury. Yes, that's exactly what the idea of socialism is intended to do. Fact is we've never seen socialism, we've seen capitalists and psychopaths version of 'socialism', with the terminology opportunistically used for their own ends. And no, I don't think it would work in pure form anyway, simply because of Animal Farm human nature, which can't just be conveniently ignored, but using insanity like Stalin and Kim to justify our own shit me-first model, and rubbish judicious public ownership of strategic assets, as many do, is ridiculous. Not saying you do by the way, but your posts are normally better than a sneering assertion that NK=true socialism. |

Well yes but apart from that. It's ok everyone taking the piss out of Trump and blaming him for everything but this shit is getting serious now and it's still not the Donald's fault.

Well they've stepped it up because of Trumps replies according to you lot but that's still not Trumps fault. Him saying that they'll be sorry if they fire a nuke when they're testing them isn't the cause of this. As you say they've been doing this for years and the stepping up is progression.

I'm not sure they have intentionally stepped it up. They weren't happy at Obama last December for imposing further sanctions.

You know what I'm thinking? Blimey that's interesting. If Kim Wrong Un fires a nuke at any country in the world it won't be Trumps fault. Whatever Trump has said it does not give someone the right to fire a Nuclear Bomb at anyone. What was Obama saying wrong 6 months ago then?

N Korea sends missile over Japan on 01:00 - Aug 31 by acejack3065 | To avoid any confusion on semantics would you agree that the USA has an important role to play in ensuring world peace and stability which in this case would involve countering the fat and grumpy manchild on the Korean Peninsula? If not, we need a drastic change in international relations from the previous 60 years. So far Trump has not specified that he plans to. If he does he might want to pipe up pretty damn sharpish. If so, you would surely agree that the actions of the President of the USA have consequence? We are not defining which action should be taken merely that action should be taken. Traditionally the USA has acted as a counterweight to tyrannical communist nuclear threats to protect the free west. The president has power and influence to help resolve this escalating crisis. So far we should have only one agreement or disagreement. Where we also might differ is my potted analysis tells me the North Koreans don't respect Trump which is why they might act with a bit more impunity as they have done. I'm not justifying the actions of a tyrannical state run by a madman. This could end horribly, or Kim could well overplay his hand. Alternatively he could be subject to a coup at home. He is incompetent and he does feel threatened which is why he's killing half of his top brass every fortnight. |
Very sorry about the down-arrow. I was too much in haste to click the double reply button, and it became too late to click the up. Three important points for you to consider: 1. Trump has very wisely allowed his military leaders [career-long students of war] to make the strategic and tactical decisions -- at the very least, to recommend those decisions to him. This includes not making political, or politically-correct, decisions. 2. U.S. military history [excluding in every way the Obama administration] shows that the U.S. military does not announce their strategic or tactical plans at any time in advance, in fact tries to keep them most devilishly secret; does try to do the less obvious; and, when or if opponents thinks they know what's coming, to delude them into convincing themselves that they're right. [No-one has been better at that than the Brits, whom American military scholars study in depth in military schools.] 3. Read Sun Tzu's Art of War. They all do. As a prime example [well, two prime examples], read a good history of the attack on Pearl Harbor and another on the first attack by the Japanese on Manila. At Pearl Harbor, the U.S. made a huge tactical error that could have cost them the war, while the Japanese did just that. At Manila, Dugout Doug MacArthur made a whole series of mistakes that virtually gave the Japanese the Philippines. My point is that at all good war colleges, those battles are studied in great detail. With regard to "North Koreans'" lack of respect, I'd suggest that it is more likely to be Kim Sung Un's lack of respect, if anyone's, which overrules the opinions of all others and is enforced by a quick and unpleasant death to anyone who expresses any other. With regard to the US initiating the use of nuclear weapons, I very seriously doubt it. Anyone who glibly suggests that the U.S. will use a nuclear bomb first does not understand the effect of Hiroshima on the American psyche. I feel sorry for any country who does throw the first nuclear punch. Would it not be inexplicable why the only country who had nuclear capability equal or better than the U.S. [Soviet Union] did not throw the first nuke, while NoKo, which keeps wasting its bombs and missiles to "big up," will? I am more willing to accept an explanation of Kim Sung Un's behaviour to be that it is not at all "irrational," but is most rationally designed to keep the U.S. away from finishing the war. [See Sun Tzu again about winning a war without fighting.] Finally, I seriously wonder whether Km Sung Un really does not understand that he cannot win either a nuclear or a conventional war against the U.N. on the peninsula. For me, that's the fly in the ointment.

What in Heaven's name has happened to you, ECB? For all of the years that I have been reading your posts and having private conversations with you that were instructive at the very least, you have been the soul of reason, but now, with Trump, you have allowed a most unreasonable hatred for the man to cloud your vision. Stop reading the hysterical anti-Trump media and their fake news and come home to reason once again. Please.

I'm still the voice of reason, Dav. The unreasonable ones are those who insist that trump is somehow fit for the office he holds and that anyone who suggests otherwise has been fooled by the media or the now ubiquitous and intensely juvenile cry of "fake news". trump is an embarrassment to your nation and the great office he's currently sullying. The sooner he is removed from it the better for the USA and the world at large. It's only a matter of time.

Just out of curiosity, Monmouth, exactly which "socialist" countries do you refer to in your first paragraph? North Korea, Soviet Union, Red China, Venezuela, etc? They all fit, but their "problems" have nothing to do with an economic system, or a "socio-economic" system depending on how you wish to characterize socialism, Now, your second and third paragraphs are, in my opinion, accurate to the punctuation marks. Of course he's wrong about "socialism in its true state," blah blah blah. [An aside. You can identify the only "pure" socialists in North Korea by their waistlines -- all twelve of them.]
