Munir 21:54 - Jul 17 with 8516 viewsNirvana

According to "reports" in Spain, former Barca wonderkid Munir is "being chased" by Southampton, West Ham, and Palace:

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/3999911/west-ham-southampton-and-crystal

http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/07/10/southampton-move-makes-most-sense-for-barce

Barcelona want £10m, but the PL clubs have supposedly only offered £8m. Everton, Ajax, and Real Sociedad have "enquired" about him, as well. For that price, we should absolutely be looking at this kid, with or without Siggy.

Everything I've said about Patrick Roberts applies to Munir, and he's actually consistently proven himself at the highest level for a few years. Still young (21); great pace and technique; can dribble, shoot, and pass; excellent finisher and footballing brain; good workrate and attitude.

Clement is obviously aware of him, having coached against him with Madrid. If he's not interested, fine, but this kid is quality. He needs time on the pitch, and he'd be in store for plenty if he came to Swansea. He is a goal-scoring winger with a bit of creativity, and that's just what we need in attack. He's also been linked before, too, so ticks all the boxes:

Bring him in Huw, you know you want to. To the highlights:

Helooks tidy and if the rumoured £10m price is true, i'd snap him up. He seems to have some flair about him from that video, which is something we were severely lacking in last season. And with Mesa and possibly Viera he could fit right in, also with us possibly already having 3 Spaniards on board with maybe more on their way it may seem more attractive to him to come here.

Hmmm - Spanish players who are comfortable on the ball and possess a bit of flair.

That just might work...

He would be an excellent addition- and another signal of intent if HJ could pull this one off.

"Yossarian- the very sight of the name made him shudder. There were so many esses in it. It just had to be subversive" (Catch 22)

Agree with everything everyone's said above about the Spanish connection, would be great to have that rekindled at the club. The touch and technique in Spain is on another level, and we need more players like that.

As for Jenkins, it genuinely seems like he has been demoted on transfers, at the least. That is a glorious thing for the club, and hopefully a sign of things to come. The Americans seem to mean business.

And that box needs to be put under ground!

There must be a reason we are not linked, Clement has worked with him previously so would have a good idea if he could cut it in the Premier League or not. The financials you would assume wouldn't be a problem.

S'pose that depends on whether or not breeze blocks are part of the deal.
Didn't we used to have some maybe Spanish types with us, that were got rid of?

If you wake up breathing, thats a good start to your day and you'll make many thousands of people envious.

That was Monk's doing, wasn't it? Didn't like all that flair.

Roma have "pulled out of the race" to sign Munir, as Barcelona are supposedly demanding €30m:

https://talksport.com/football/transfer-boost-roma-pull-out-race-crystal-palace-

http://www.90min.com/posts/5312372-barcelona-demand-30m-for-spanish-wonderkid-mu

If that figure is true, then there is no way any of the clubs linked with him are actually going to sign him. I assume Barca are playing hardball here to increase his price, but it's not really going to work. He's too young and inconsistent to warrant paying that amount, and everyone knows that.

If the sum comes back down, we should be in for him. Otherwise, we should focus on Roberts, and maybe Iuri Medeiros from Sporting:

http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/07/24/wolves-linked-winger-iuri-medeiros-admits-h

Wolves have been linked to sign him on loan for awhile, but we should at least try if we miss out on the other guys. Talented kid, and takes a mean free kick:

A couple of links updating the Munir "chase":

http://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/real-sociedad/20170804/43320750966/el-barca

http://www.marca.com/en/football/barcelona/2017/08/05/5985e19746163ffe7e8b45e3.h

Barcelona are said to be trying to send him off to Real Sociedad as part of a package to get Inigo Martinez. Leganes are also attempting to take him on loan.

So, relatively nothing concrete, but thanks to the Neymar money maybe Barcelona will accept less than the €30m they quoted Roma. They could also want to keep him around, as insurance, because they lost Neymar.

We'll see. Would love it if we somehow ended up with the kid.

I would have thought even by now Clement is pissed off suggesting anything to a chairman who doesn't listen.

Wow that jumped up a hell of a lot from the £8 million (€10) you suggested he'd go for a fortnight ago

It sure did, Barcelona playing idiotic-hardball.

Seems that figure will be coming back down to earth, seeing as no one would pay that amount.

But, I never suggested he'd go for £8m, I was quoting the linked article that said several PL clubs had offered that and wouldn't go any higher.

Either way, I doubt he'll be sold anywhere close to €30m, either £12m max or he goes out on loan with a purchase option.

Well he'd be worth a cheeky €10mill punt end of next week if no one else tries before....

Completely agree, Uplands.

Munir is a talent and he just needs playing time, would fit perfectly with us.

€10m would be money well spent if we got this kid, Siggy sale or not.

Marca reporting that Munir "must" be sold, not loaned out:

http://www.marca.com/en/football/barcelona/2017/08/07/59876ce7268e3ef22a8b45ec.h

It explains why he hasn't gone yet, plenty of offers, I'm sure. If they're only looking to sell him, though, they'll have to come down sharply from the supposed €30m they quoted Roma a while back.

Definitely one to watch, as Barcelona may be forced to sell him at a discount rate, and we should be there then, as Uplands alluded to.

Stats last season:

10 goals / 6 assists / 1.2 key passes / 1.9 shots / 3.5 times fouled

And he's apparently in Valverde's plans for Barca this season, although who knows if that's true.

Either way, at least we got Clucas/12-games-Sanches for £23m+ instead. Nahhhh.
