Thousands march against the tories on 09:58 - Jul 2 by nice_to_michu | Oh dear, Trumpie. You remember how you used to bang on and on about the 'Political Compass' website? It doesn't make good reading for you now, does it?! It has the Labour manifesto more left-wing than the SNP, the Greens, and, wait for it, Plaid Cymru! Oh dear, oh dear. These centrist Plaid Cymru politicians seem so out of touch with the Welsh electors these days, I'm sure you will agree https://www.politicalcompass.org/charts/uk2017 |

I thought you didn't agree with it ? It makes excellent reading Plaid have always been just left of centre and that is where they are pitched, business people and landowners vote Plaid as well as workers. Labour have been right wing for decades and that has been reflected in the graphs, they have only moved back to the left hand side of the graph since their last manifesto came out a matter of months ago, what's as disturbing as Labour being right wing is the Lib-Dems being right wing, Plaid, SNP and Greens being the only alternative to the right in this country for years.

Thousands march against the tories on 21:09 - Jul 1 by morningstar | No it's not. My step daughter and son we're in attendance there. She is a dental hygienist at a practice in Harley Street. He works in IT for the Met. They took the time to campaign door to door for the Labour party in a constituency that was taken by labour from the Conservatives a few weeks ago. Now whether i agree with their views is irrelevant, but calling people like that 'soap dodgers' not only makes you a small minded bigot, but also an incorrect one. |
As I said grow a pair. Tories are called every name under the sun, they are spat at, abused, punched, kicked. But it's just part and parcel of life. Why are you lefties always so precious?

Thousands march against the tories on 06:48 - Jul 2 by trampie | I was told down the pub that it's thick racist selfish old people that vote Conservative these days, stats seem to back that up, younger more educated people, people that are prepared to even pay more tax for the greater good don't vote Conservative. Recently there has been a flip flop of the type of people that vote Conservative and vote Labour. |
Wrong, young educated people are more than happy for others to pay more tax

A long time ago. But the point remains, it was a 'tax the rich' budget the lib dems talked about taxing everyone more. That was 'fair' but didn't get a hearing, the labour party put all the tax rises on business and individuals earning more than 80k. I'd welcome a debate about how we fund public services, it's cowardly to pretend more affluent people will pay for State largesse.

I agree, the LibDems proposals on many things had plenty of merit. If they'd had a decent leader they might have done better.

As I said in my previous post, I believe labour are in a false sense of security at the moment. Like Brexit, it was a moment in time bit of luck: - shocking tory manifesto - shocking leader - anger over brexit - tim bed wetter farron - theresa bottling debates - corbyn acing campaign - literally no discussion on economy - protest vote the list goes on.... With Vince Cable in charge, centrists from tories and labour will listen to a man of experience and intellect. I expect liberals to do very well soon, in 6 months I predict 15%+ in polls [Post edited 2 Jul 2017 16:40]

It depends when the next election ends up being. If it's within a year, I expect Labour to win it, or at least be the largest party. Ditto if May us still in charge of the Tories. Labour has momentum at the moment and all if a sudden Corbyn appeals like he didn't before. Also, Brexit is already a shambles and is inky young to get worse.

It won't be the right wingers will never let their precious brexit be put in jeopardy. Expect her to hang on, the real sh1t will hit fan at end of brexit timetable, I've read several articles now saying this will probably cause the death of the tory party. There's no way they can survive it imo.

Never underestimate the Tory Party's capacity for self preservation. If labour had found itself in the Tories' position of having blown a majority it expected to increase massively it would have pulled itself to bits spectacularly and publicly by now. The Tories just stuck they noses in the air and their fingers in their ears and are carrying in as if they did win a majority of 150.

No I think you're misreading situation. The only reason they're staying together is basic common sense, they have an election soon that leaves the possibility of a socialist Government and obviously on a purely selfish level losing their seat. They despise each other, all it will take is someone to break and it will be bedlam.

When have the Tories ever done that? They've had these divisions for decades. They love power more than they hate each other. They see it as their birthright.

They split in 19th century, it can happen again. The European issue is seismic, I maybe wrong but I simply can't see how pro EU tories can reconcile themselves anymore with the absolutist jingoistic element.

Protesting is a job for some of these left wing fantasists in America. It wouldn't surprise me if we soon found out someone was paying for people to protest here too.
