NML to Wigan for £150k

Replaced by Danny mayor ( poor mans NML ) for a third of that 50k.

Gives us some pace ( option ) would be a decent addition to the squad.

Or we could keep the actual NML..

Life is a game of fate.

Although Keane's new deal has not exactly come as a great surprise (I think the messages coming from all parties led us to believe his stay here would be extended) it is still feels like a belated Christmas present. Hard to believe the impact he has had on the team overall especially considering he has not played much in defence prior to his time with us. He plays the game with such composure and apparent ease you would think he had spent his whole career in that position! Yet another example of Hilly seeing things that nobody else does! Genius!!!

Poll: Would you prefer relegation to happen…

Oh happy day! Keano is the key to the change in fortunes in defence. W"e are now so hard to beat. Composure on the ball, excellent relationship with Raffa, vision to find a blue shirt which is rare at our level. He is obviously happy judging by the appreciation of the staff, gaffer and very nice comments about the fans - just goes to show how we can play a part in a players performance when its positive.

Special times for dale indeed.

Perhaps the best thing about the move from Cambridge is that his contract with them was cancelled "by mutual consent". The fact that we have not had to pay a transfer fee is the cherry on the icing on the top of the cake.

And because contract was cancelled we are not held to any massive salary he might have been on down there.

He would hardly have agreed to a mutual termination of his contract to half his wages though would he?

I personally think talk of him being on 4k a week at Cambridge is nonsense anyway mind.

“It was an easy decision to sign a permanent deal,” said Keane.
“I’ve really enjoyed being at the club, and since I’ve been here, I've found that love for playing football again. There’s a great bunch of lads here and I like playing for the manager and the staff.
“Everyone gets on, the banter is good every day and everyone is on the same wave length. The Gaffer is straight forward — he tells you exactly what he wants from his players. The players are on the same page as the Gaffer and we’re transferring what he wants out onto the pitch.”
And Keane praised the fans for their support since his arrival at the club.
“I think the fans have been absolutely fantastic with me — I couldn’t have asked or wished for more from them. They’ve really got behind me and supported me since I’ve been here. They’ve made it really enjoyable and I look forward to coming to play in front of them to try to get the three points for them to make sure they go home with a smile on their face. That was another key decision in wanting to sign here, and I would like to thank them all for their support so far.”

I'm not going to speculate on how much he was earning or how much he might be earning, but like a lot of people in the current Dale set-up, I'm sure greater riches could be found elsewhere (and I include KH this). I also suspect there may be a small element of "talking up" the arrangement above, but what price job satisfaction? As fans, we are lapping it up at the moment. For players, as KK said, there is a great atmosphere in the squad and it's fun playing for Dale, winning and being successful. Crowds are growing and the new appointments to improve the off-field stuff also contribute to the positivity. Money is important, especially with a limited playing career, but so is looking forward to going to work! QED.

Up the Dale - NOT for sale!
Poll: Is it coming home?

Close on 40 years supporting!

I cannot ever remember being in better shape on and off the field.

I am hoping this is just the start of a glorious long period for the club. The finest in our entire history.

What a time to be a Dale fan. Spine tingling.

Have we ever been in better shape?
