Yeh hopefully. I like everything that Ramsey and Ferdinand have said, and I like the Swindon lads, and Mackie coming back. But the German lad, even JET who's never performed consistently at Championship level, Blackwood and lots of the other signings feel a bit like that summer where we brought in Ward, Czerkas, Oliseh and bigged them all up. That had a farcical pre-season tour as well, and today's game was nothing if not farcical - their keeper wasn't even taking the goal kicks. | | | |

I like the look of both the German lad and JET, but yes they are a gamble, Blackwood is an u21. I would like to think that we will invest in a few more experienced players when the £30+m comes in from, Sterling, Austin, Fer etc , I really hope we can keep hold of Phillips. | |

The thing with Blackwood is that he was given a trial and scored 6 goals during it. He did well in Barnet and Northamptonshire young teams (I know,but) before choosing to put his education first and go to America. He won nearly all college soccer awards whilst at South Florida and has come to us with a great attitude. He'll be on small wages and has only been given a 1 year deal. Remember when we had Paulo Wanchope? Not saying that he will be anything like him, but I think it's worth a try.
Nothing ventured and all that.
I do agree with Northerns point about this pre-season. Why are we playing 2 games in 2 days twice, when we have short numbers in the squad? It's almost worked out better, Shakthar not playing us.
I'm concerned at our lack of goalkeeping coach and assistant to Ramsey and try as I may, I can't help but find the Harriman situation disappointing.
Sandro and the lack of hoops on the back of the shirts have also been negatives when the direction of Les and Chris and the club, as a whole, has been positive. | | | |
