Stan Bowles. Sad news on 18:22 - Jun 20 by Discodroids
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.Stan on Fire off the shoulder of Claudio Gentile . I watched Stan glitter in the dark near the Gallowgate end .. All those moments will be NEVER be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to Remember.
Stan...I remember..
Hero.

Yeah, what you said and Stan jumping to laugh in Malcolm McDonold's face. Stan turning three Middlesbrough defenders to slot it in the top corner. Stan having a pint in the Beehive.
Strong and stable my arse.

so sad, born in an era where although they were well paid, it was never enough that they didn't need to earn a crust after their football career ended. Hope he is looked after, forever a Rangers great

Stan was probably the reason why I started supporting QPR. At the age of about 9/10 I caught The Big Match on Sunday's, and was mesmerised by this genius running around in the blue and white hooped shirt. Loved his showmanship and talent. Still have a post-it note sticker on my pc at work stating, simply - "Stan Bowles 'Em Over". I think it was probably a newspaper headline that stuck in my memory from years ago.
The Dreams and Memories will live on in the heart for Ever!!!

Not only a great player but also a great team player. Was never me, me, me with Stan. Helped out the team and had a lot of time for unselfish and less talented team mates. Micky Leach being a prime example

The club should organise a testimonial now,the poor chap's going to need some extra financial assistance. It would be chance for the fans to show their appreciation of one of our favourite sons.

Terrible news... I think a testimonial is a fantastic idea... Legend doesn't begin to describe the man!

My dad died last year , indirectly of the condition. So sad, you don't know how it is until it happens to you. People around suffer the most, my sympathies are with his family and friends. My dad and I saw Stan at his best.
What this club could do with right now are a a few players of the ilk of Stan, Gerry, Dave etc. All the best to Stan and his family as the future is going to be hard. Spent 10 years looking after my mum who succumbed to this f..king disease. Could put the same tv show on a week later knowing she wouldn't remember it, heartbreaking.
If a turtle doesn't have a shell, is he homeless or naked?

Gutted to hear this sad news. One of the lucky ones to have seen him at the Bush from 1973 onwards. Also lucky enough to have had a drink and a chat with him in The Bricklayers Brentford a few times. The words Hero and Legend are not enough for Stan. I wanted to put up Michael Nyman's 'The Final Score' as a little tribute but I cant find it anywhere..You Tube have removed it... All the best Stan.
very sad news, hope he and his family get the necessary support.
like many of a certain vintage we follow QPR through a combination of family and 'that' team. Bowles, Thomas & Francis led the way and the rest completed a fantastic period for our club. They made my first QPR team the best by far.

Very sad to hear this. Best player for me ever. "Stan Bowles em over" was a banner displayed in S A Rd and "the big match" had it in their opening titles for a season back in the day. Apparently vitamin B 3 helps slow things down.

Stan bowles is my hero and I'll love him forever! Best rangers player without a shadow of a doubt, as soon as I saw him play i knew this is the club for me! This news has really upset me!
AND WHEN I DREAM , I DREAM ABOUT YOU AND WHEN I SCREAM I SCREAM ABOUT YOU!!!!!
Been reading a lot about stan today, came across this quote which I hadn't seen before. Made me laugh. They should make a film of his life.
"If there was a contest to find the world's biggest loser, I'd win," he muses in Loaded magazine. "Unless there was a prize." As evidence, he mentions that Virgin approached him to appear in a commercial for its new pension scheme. "Then I saw a Virgin ad with Geoffrey from Rainbow looking all washed up. Those cheeky sods only wanted to use me as an example of a failure! They had 58 million people to choose from and it comes down to a shootout between me and Geoffrey from Rainbow as to who is the biggest loser in the country. To add insult to injury, Geoffrey edges me out and bins £5,000."
