Wouldn't disagree with that, just that he's not as good at it as either Siggy or probably Jonjo.

Nelson? I'd say Gomis seems more suited to it personally. If still here, I can't see Gomis being our first choice striker next season anyway. It'd take a dramatic shift in performance for him to hit double figures over a season

Indeed, I missed Tranmere away so I'm yet to see him hit the target the target with a shot.

He hit the target with a shot yesterday.

Let's be brutally honest here, if not for the outbursts in January nobody would be saying a word about his performance yesterday. An example - He'd just sprinted about 80/90 yards closing down various defenders and about five seconds later some bloke behind me shouted "Get that lazy bastard Gomis off!!" Crazy. gomis on 10:25 - Feb 8 by libertine | I am disheartened by his ball control, his holding, his turning and hes always a yard off. His hair is great though!!!!! I like Nelson he's trying hard without much game time he seems to want it more |
His hair is lovely I agree More importantly his goal in Nov made the difference of twice as many additional PL points as Bony's did in his first 5/6 months with us. Plus a great win against the Arse. Remember for months in the PL Bony used to spend so much time on his arse I began to think he had vertigo

gomis on 20:40 - Feb 7 by bermudajack | I'm not convinced yet... He's certainly not an instictive striker like Defoe or Bony, he just seems slightly behind the pace of the game/ crosses and on times today he was brushed aside with ease by John o Shea, he's lacking some grit & strength. I haven't quite given up on him yet, but what irritates most of us is this... He's been vocal in the press making out he's got loads of offers elsewhere & we're lucky to have him here... Now in the case of Bony that was true... But Gomis... is no Wilfried Bony What riled me today was he lost the ball a lot, often getting outmuscled by JOS, he made no effort to regain possession and hardly bust a gut to get on the end of some superb crosses He obviously needs to start looking like or actually become a scorer of goals, or we must give Nelson his chance who looked very capable when he came on today 👠|
Good assessment that - i agree with every word.
gomis on 14:22 - Feb 8 with 1391 views | azjack | I'm still hoping that he'll turn a corner soon and start scoring for fun. There were more - and better crosses - but he didn't really attack them with confidence. Perhaps Dyer needs to have a word with Gomis as they weren't on the same wavelength yesterday.

I must've been in the toilet, I'll keep an eye out for it on MOTD highlights later. I could careless about him being mouthy, I'm certain though that a full season of him in the form he's shown so far will see us in deep sh1t

Not really, he is a striker who doesn't really look like scoring or creating. Yes, his comments in January and having to fill the boots of one of our best ever strikers don't help his cause, but unless he improves or is replaced in the summer, next season could well be a long one.

Yeah Nelson, looks more of a creator than a finisher to me. I don't see either of them being first choice next season unless we change our style of play (Gomis) or lose Siggy and Jonjo (Oliviera).

gomis on 08:49 - Feb 8 by Dr_Winston | Gomis played well. Worked hard, linked play well enough (although obviously no Wilf), got into good positions, and was unlucky not to score at least once. If another player had put in that kind of performance there'd be no doubt at all about it, but obviously he's evil so balanced opinion is impossible. |

gomis on 17:38 - Feb 8 with 1215 views | Chief | lets face facts, gomis is a really really shite version of bony. We don't play the likes of Rotherham and tranmere every week so a striker that turns slower than a cruise liner wont wash in the prem. any patience I'd have with him while we wait for him to click 'after a run of games' (hes played last the last 6 or 7 now) has gone after the ballux hes been spouting in the press. he thinks the sun shines out of his arse. I suspect hes off in the summer. monk doesn't seem to suffer fools glady, but will persist for a while if its in the interest of the club (similar to the Chico situation)

gomis on 17:38 - Feb 8 with 1215 views | ScoobyWho | He lacks the basic striker instinct like getting across the keeper and sniffing out chances in the six yard box. He doesn't gamble on much either. He has hyped himself in to a position he cant justify.

After watching him at QPR on New Year's Day I wrote "..if Palace come offering money for Gomis, grab it. He has all the assets of a striker except a very important one- he can't shoot" I'm still to be convinced. First thing he needs to achieve is to score a goal with his feet - he's scored 2 very important goals with his head (yes, I know, technically against W Ham it was recorded as an own goal), but apart from Tranmere hasn't yet beaten a goalkeeper with a shot. Having said all that, I think he deserves a break because he is trying extremely hard for us. He put in a good shift yesterday. Also , Bony looked equally inept in front of goal and with general ball control, for a long time before he settled down and started scoring. And even in the past few months there were games where Bony was anonymous. I'd like to.see the effect that a goal or two would have on Gomis. I haven't given up on him completely yet.

Palace did come calling and offered £9.5M for him which the club accepted, guess what Gomis refused to go to Palace and instead asked us for a salary rise he was told where to go.He is shocking value for the money we are paying him,21 appearances in the PL 1 goal.
