Well, these music threads are much less depressing than the QPR ones at the moments so here is a link to an interesting article from the BBC site. A few surprises there but more importantly what is your best cover version.
I'm a bit gutted to see that my original cover version video has been removed. No-one showing me any respect by the looks of it.
It's really bizarre some of the stuff that gets removed. Whoever owns the copyright on a lot of the Japanese music from the 60s and 70s is always closing down Youtube channels that have that stuff.

Maybe they don't want people using their music for nothing? Why do you think you can use their music for nothing?
It's a very interesting subject and I'm still not sure where I stand on it.
Can't find a working clip of it, but Jennifer Warnes' version of Invitation To The Blues, the Tom Waits song, is wonderful. From her album The Well, one of the best albums in the history of recorded music.

I don't know enough to know how the system should operate. I just find it pretty annoying when things are put up on Youtube and disappear again (especially obscure things that aren't going to get many views anyway).
Another annoying thing is the attempt to regionalise music. Previously a lot of Korean music videos wouldn't play if Youtube detected your ip address was outside Korea. However it looks like that policy has changed so here is Lee Seong-ae's atmospheric early 70s cover of a Beatles song, courtesy of the Recording Industry Association of Korea:

Not sure how I feel about that... I was a massive Nirvana fan as youngun, and this feels a bit like the John-Lewis-advert-breathy-Xmas-cover-version genre infringing on Mr Cobain's legacy!

Saw Wild Billy Childish at Koko's last night Great gig including a thumping cover of a Kink's gem. For the record I counted at least 5 Rs in attendance. Those pink away tops stand out a mile.
