Prague Derby (NSR) 09:53 - Sep 17 with 12025 views | Jackhero | OK, I'm off on a jolly in Prague over the weekend of the Prague (Slavia vs Sparta) Derby. Anyone have any knowledge or experience of going to games like these and getting tickets? I have no idea where to start really so any advice welcome. I've even convinced the Missus it will be a good idea to go!

Prague Derby (NSR) on 21:57 - Sep 17 by controversial_jack | I concur. It serves a great pint of draught Staropramen too. Probably the best beer I have ever tasted. Costs a bit more there but usually an acoustic band playing |
Staropramen is commercial crap you won't see many Czechs drinking it its for tourists in "Irish bars' The price in dubliners for that is around 80 zloty in a czech pub it is 30 zloty maximum. Get up to zizkov and taste the beer from the local Czech brewers its a different world.

Prague Derby (NSR) on 10:13 - Sep 17 by JesusJack | A few mates and myself went to Slavia vs Mlada Boleslav a couple of years ago when we were out there. We bought tickets at the ticket office right outside the stadium on the day no problem even though it was the first game of the season. Not sure how much luck you'd have with the derby though. You can get a tram easily enough to the station (Tram 22). We wore Swans tops on the day which aroused a few confused looks but we felt safe enough. The atmosphere was bouncing but never intimidating and we were sat near the away fans. You'll definitely enjoy. Have you been to Prague before? Beware of the pickpockets as you walk into the town centre (You should be okay as they normally only target single men). Also, check out the Coyote Bar, to the left of the clock tower and through the archway and you'll see it. Good music, atmos and entertainment. No strippers (So missus friendly) but the barmaids do a lot of fire-breathing, bar dancing etc. with clothes on. |
That Coyote bar sounds a bit Ugly .......

What nonsense .Staropramen is a premium beer. The Czechs use Korunas not Zloty's. An average pint would cost about 38 Korunas, Staropramen in the Dubliner a bit more, maybe 50 k. Many beer halls in Prague brew their own so you can get great beer in Prague. Even their commercial run of the mill beer is much better than ours and more importantly, no hangovers
Prague Derby (NSR) on 16:26 - Sep 18 with 2670 views | pikeypaul | My mistake kr not zloty that was poland. If you want some quality lager ill post some up and the real Czech pubs (not irish stag do joints)you can find them later. Staraporam is 65kr in dublner and easy to find for around 30 kr elsewhere so over double the price. No Czech would class staraporem as a quality drink its similar to fosters with Aussies they all tell you it's crap. But at the end of the day it's about taste and if that's yours good luck. Do the Czechs have anything that resemble our 'Real Ales' here in the UK or are their beverages more of the Lager based ones? I'm more a real ale person now.

Sedm kuli is a real ale and probably my favourite drink of the ale variety can be found at Ferdinanda pub just by the main railway station. Plenty of others also in local bars.

The Dubliner is good for entertainment, there's usually a live band playing which makes a change from the beer halls. As the night goes on and you feel the need for something a bit more lively the Dubliner is fine. I also like the James Dean restaurant, which has a great dance are with a dj downstairs. I have yet to see Staropramen selling for anywhere near 30k or any other beer as that would be around a 90p a pint You are right it's a question of tastes, but the locals don't drink it as it's usually a bit more pricey than say Gabrinus. The only bad pint I have had there was in the Red Lion near the square

Music at the Dubliner does not start until after 10pm taken from its own website which is where I got the beer prices they charge 99kr for HEINEKEN FFS no Czech in their righ mind would go in there. http://www.aulddubliner.cz/menus/drinks-menu So lets compare 65kr for stratopram and 99kr for hieneken in a irish bar or 29 kr for svelte in a excellent prague bar/restaurant.no contest. Depends what you want. 10pm isn't late for Prague. As I stated in my previous post, it's great to drink in the local cheaper establishments, but if you feel like some sounds or to pull a few shapes on the dance floor, then the Dubliner or James Dean is a good option and I have had a few good times in there. I will look out for ferdinanda though, but in my experience I haven't found anything as cheap as that in the city
