How would we get destroyed in midfield? |
Liverpool used a similar diamond formation last season and it worked for them as they had Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling in the top half. At least one of them were always on the last defender and that stretched defences.
We dont have that pace and itll all get congested in the midfield. Our 'out' ball will be a hoof up the middle aimed at Bony/Gomis. Gylfi and Routledge would be passengers defensively and the right hand side would be Rangel & Shelvey. Slow.
Might work if we were chasing games though and we were putting the oppo under pressure. Would be worried if that was used every week. | |

With this I think we'd get overrun in midfield, not control the game and have no pace out wide. I can't see us playing 2 upfront at all.
Defence will hopefully be ok, but I have a feeling few on this forum are not too keen on Fabianski???
For me I'd have:
Vorm/Fabianski
Ben/Taylor, Ash, Chico(last chance saloon for me) Rangel
Monterro/Routs, Leon, Shelvey, Routs/Dyer
Gomis???/Gylfi
Bony
