Long time friend of the Trust Iolo Williams just popped by to say hello to our Water for Wildlife Officer, who is hosting a Water and Wildlife themed day in Swansea Uni Biosciences department. We're handing out free ponds to turn into wildlife havens for Swansea residents, lots of leaflets and info about wildlife gardening and waterway walks around campus happening this afternoon. We buried an old bath a few years a go, filled it with weed and water and waited.
We now have regular frogs and this year we have newts! Not sure what type but one small one had crests coming from the back of his head, the others are about 2.5 inches long. If these are crested newts am I now a site of special scientific interest? Can i expect visits from various wild life type boffins and will my garden be protected?  |  | | |
