LAUDRUP GONE: OFFICIAL on 21:26 - Feb 4 with 2760 views | LeonisGod | And I bet someone still tries to blame this on Tiendali or Amat! Shit. I hope Huw and the board know what they're doing. Shit. Keeping a cool head just got considerably harder. On the plus side, the 'quality' of our football has been generally poor for some time. Hopefully things might pick up now. Or is this the start of the slide into the Championship?

Thinking of "losing senior players" Williams' commented after Cardiff and West Ham about a lack of desire. Think he was talking to and about Laudrup.

Could be. Let's hope he doesn't make signing Emnes on a permanent deal a pre-requisite for Laudrup's replacement eh?

LAUDRUP GONE: OFFICIAL on 21:20 - Feb 4 by Uxbridge | My concern is that Monk is actually the planned successor. Obviously I hope hes going to be brilliant, but it's a massive ask. |
Disappointed this has happened but in hindsight it may have been needed. My gut feeling is since the incident with the Turk at the beginning of the year, ML has never really been arsed - he never has been in his playing career and certainly not in his managerial career - never stays in one place for very long. That will most certainly have an impact on players and performances. The noises coming out of some of them was not great about fitness. ML tactics were pretty limited most of the time and il always remember a Dane coming on here when he was appointed and saying that ML style of football is stylish but wonders whether he is capable of motivating. Clearly he didnt want to be here. Couldnt be arsed to train players properly, didnt really seem too enthused about anything, obviously didnt want any input on bringing players in over the window and the club were forced to do it on his behalf. Like i said elsewhere, a person who is working his notice. The club will have a replacement in mind and it depends whether it happens now or over the summer. Monk is just a forced stop gap until that happens imo.

I've read he was sacked rather than resigned or left by mutual consent. That's Marvin's wedge wasted then...

Let's just hope Garry Monk is strong enough to make his own decisions. Big reflections required on a lot of aspects of the clubs management this summer. Hopefully we'll be able to do them as a PL club.

LAUDRUP GONE: OFFICIAL on 21:39 - Feb 4 with 2493 views | duckling | Seriously what kind of timing is this... You couldn't have found a worse time in the entire season to sack the coach. Napoli games Players returning from injuries Still FA cup to play reasonable position in the league Possibly the most important month's program of the year... Had they parted ways next month with the team still being in danger of relegation and out of the cups, it would have ben a great time to switch coach. Monk is going to have a hard time starting out with the most important games. I wish you the best Swans, but I'm lowering my expectations of the season, from a 12-14'th spot to a 14'th-16'th spot. Also think the Napoli games will be even harder.

I also lowering my expectations and I don't think I'm the first to think it: We'll be relegated unless we get a new experienced manager installed in the next ten days or so. It reminds of the times when Roger Freestone / Curtis / Nick Cusack were in charge. Monk & Curtis are way over their heads

LAUDRUP GONE: OFFICIAL on 21:11 - Feb 4 by Jokeren1943 | A dude called Oscarito wrote this in the Guardian. An it is pretty much how I feel: "What a shame for the EPL! Here is a guy playing attractive football with a team filled with shoestring purchases - and your solution is to block his moves on the transfer market and bring in deadweight from the Championship courtesy of a witless football director. This one is on Jenkins. Good luck elsewhere Laudrup - it was a pleasure watching your team at full strength last year." |

I think I recall having heard ekstrabladet refered to as "the sun" of denmark. Their biggest reader attraction is their 'page 9 girl' which shows some skin. Rest of the 'newspaper' is just whatever article they can fling together that could cuse alarm from someone in hopes of getting sales off the shelf. Sensationalist 'journalism' is what I think the term is for their kind of paper. The girls they use on page 9 are quite nice from time to time, however. [Post edited 4 Feb 2014 22:00]
