Southampton Linked With Euro 2024 Free Transfer

According to media reports Saints could be about to make a move for a 27 year old midfielder who is available on a free transfer after leaving French club Lille in the summer.

HITC are one of the media outlets who are are suggesting that Yusuf Yazici could be set for a move to the Premier League.

The 27 year old who played for Turkey in the recent Euro 2024 tournament is being touted around by his agent after leaving Lille in the summer.

The reports say that Galatasaray in his native Turkey are leading to chase to snap him up on a free transfer, but his agent seems to be setting his sights higher, Manchester United Tottenham, Aston Villa, Newcastle & Aston Villa are al said to have been contacted by his agent and his former boss at Lille Paulo Fonseca who is now at AC Milan is also said to be interested..

But it seems that his agent is a very busy bee as Southampton are also names in an ever growing list of Premier League clubs as they are said to have also entered the race along with Wolves, Fulham & West Ham.

On the face of it he looks a good acquisition for someone, but I am not sure that someone is Southampton FC, essentially he is a central attacking midfielder and with Matteus Fernandes and Adam Lallana both arriving at St Mary's in the summer, it is not a position we are short of players in.

HITC go on to say that the players is looking for a salary somewhere in the region of 100,000 Euros and to be blunt his stats don't match up to that and certainly it is not the type of wage Saints can afford unless it is for an exceptional player.

So I would be surprised if we actually pursued this, even at the bargain price of absolutely zero in transfer fees. However it does highlight that there are a few decent players still available on free transfers and this may be an option that Southampton may examine in other positions.
