Six Could Potentially Leave Southampton On Deadline Day

There has been plenty of rumour about who will arrive at St Mary's on deadline day, but there could be as many as six players going through the out door, some are obvious, some not quite so obvious, so here we look at who could be departing.

Tall Paul, Onuachu is perhaps the most obvious potential departure, Saints have been hanging on for a fee somewhere North of £10 million whereas Trabzonspor seemingly won't go above £6 million and therefore it has been stalemate.

But both sides could give way a little and if the Turks up their bid a little and Saints are able to land the players they want today after the rumour of a swoop for both Danny Ings and James Ward Prowse, a compromise could be reached with Southampton perhaps needing not just the transfer fee, but his wages off the books.

Another departure could be Kamaldeen Sulemana, again he seems surplus to requirements and a decent bid could land him.

One that hasn't been mentioned as a possible departure so far is Ryan Manning, but the whisper is that he could leave, he never quite convinced in the Championship, although he was better than some would have you believe, but he is way down the pecking order now, Jack Stephens was preferred as left back in the final games of last season and with Kyle Walker Peters playing there in the opening League games and Charlie Taylor also able to play there and Juan Larios making a return to first team action this week, Manning is seemingly 5th in line and there is still Jayden Meghoma coming through the ranks.

So Saints could well be looking to move Manning on today, even if it is only initially on loan.

Rumours have also persisted regarding Alex McCarthy who is not one of the six and that could well happen once hopefully Aaron Ramsdale is confirmed, but is more likely in January when Gavin Bazunu could be a month or two nearing fitness.

Another who could move is Armel Bella-Kotchap, he was put in the shop window with a cameo role at Cardiff on Wednesday and there could be a late bid from Germany.

There could also be shock departures if Saints can land Ward Prowse and one of Joe Aribo or Will Smallbone could be sacrificed to trim the wage bill, perhaps even both.

So it could be a busy day around Southampton Football Club today and certainly one that will go to the wire.

Leeds fighting spirit wins through as we beat Swansea to go top
Leeds were twice behind in this incredible game at Swansea City, and then seemed to have victory snatched away right at the death. But each time we fought back and our sheer determination finally secured the victory that we needed to finish the weekend on top of the Championship.

Farke complains bitterly about Firpo suspension
We had a surprise yesterday morning, as we found out that that Junior Firpo had been given a three match suspension as a result of an incident in the match at Millwall. Our manager has complained about the short notice when he was preparing his team to face QPR, and about the FA’s process itself.
Leeds labour to victory over stubborn QPR
We made hard work of winning this game, but we finally put the match beyond Queens Park Rangers with a second goal deep into injury time, sending the visitors to the bottom of the table.
Farke happy with the performance despite defeat
Daniel Farke has claimed that his team were excellent last night, but many others disagree, after we failed to get past an organised defence yet again, and Millwall were able to hang on to all three points.
Millwall Awaydaze
On Wednesday night we can once again look forward to another fun-packed visit to Millwall on Sunday with kick off at 7.45. You’ll find the New Den in a really pleasant part of South-East London, but if you’re not heading this way, there is always the option of watching the game live on Sky Sports plus.
Leeds coast to comprehensive win over Plymouth
The goalscoring was confined to an eight minute period towards the end of the first half, but Leeds were so dominant throughout the entire 90 minutes that Plymouth Argyle didn’t manage a single shot on goal.
Farke feels Leeds should have come back from Ashton Gate with a win
Leeds had more of the possession and created the better chances against Bristol City, so it feels a little frustrating that we didn’t take all three points.
Bristol City Awaydaze
It will be an early start if you’re making a day trip to Bristol City on Saturday, as kick-off is at 12.30pm, thanks to our very good friends at Sky Sports. You’ll find Ashton Gate about 2 miles to the south-west of the city centre.
