Danny Ings Could Be Making A Shock Return To St Mary's

West Ham United are having a clear out as they revamp their squad and reports say that two ex Southampton stars are on their way out, with a third potentially coming the door marked in !

According to westhamzone.com who are quoting Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, the Hammers are shipping out both Danny Ings and Mikail Antonio and looking to bring in Armando Broja from Chelsea.

Ings has not exactly been a success at The London Stadium after a similar flop as Aston Villa, Ings managed just 2 goals for the Hammers in 7 starts and 10 sub appearances after joining the club in January from Aston Villa for £12 million.

No with Ings turning 31 in 3 days time, West Ham are looking to offload him to free up space for Armando Broja, Ings price will be far less than the £12 million that the Hammers gambled when they signed him, but his wages could be a problem for Saints.

The former Saints hero signed a 2 1/2 year deal when he joined West Ham and I would imagine he would not be keen to take a pay cut for the next 2 years.

Mikhail Antonio would perhaps better suit what Saints are looking for from a striker, but he is being linked with a move to Quatar and Al Ettifaq FC, so Saints are unlikely to be able to compete with his wages that the Quataris can offer, although his contract is due up in 2024.

Both players might struggle to find a club in the Premier League for the coming season, hence Danny Ings being liked with a return to St Mary's.

Once again we dominated the possession in an away game, but struggled to make it count. That was before a superb team goal in the 79th minute finally broke through the Derby County defence, and that proved to be enough to ensure that we finish 2024 on top of the Championship table.
Farke Seeks Improvement Despite Comfortable Win in the Fog
Even though we went back to the top of the table Daniel Farke thought we should have won more comfortably, but we were more than good enough to beat a woeful Stoke City. For the third time in 2024 a Leeds win cost an opposing manager his job, after Narcis Pelach was called in to collect his P45 yesterday morning.
Derby Awaydaze
Our first visit to Derby County four five years is at 5.45pm tomorrow, which has of course been dictated by Sky Sports. We’re not famous any more!

Preston Awaydaze
Our visit to Deepdale is on Saturday, with a 12.30pm kick off, and once again we’re live on Sky Sports. As the name Preston North End suggests, the stadium is a mile or so to the north of the town centre.
