Le Tissier Axed By Sky Sport

Sky Sport have announced that Saints legend Matt Le Tissier will no longer be part of their team for the forthcoming season.

The man Saints fans call Le God has been axed alongside Charlie Nicholas and Phil Thompson from their Soccer Saturday show.

The TV company have been cutting staff numbers recently, and the three pundits were told of the decision on Tuesday.

Sky confirmed the news on Wednesday night and said: "We are changing some parts of our football coverage.

"Matt, Charlie and Phil have done a great job for us over the years, and they will leave us with our sincere thanks and very best wishes.”

Le Tissier had come under fire recently for sharing his thoughts on coronavirus and the government response on social media in recent weeks, but this is not thought to have had any bearing on the decision and it is more to do with Sky wanting to freshen up it's programmes with some new ideas and new faces.

Matt commented on Twitter to thank Sky Sports backroom staff for their support saying he had enjoyed his time there and now on to the next challenge.
